Favorite Fall Scarves

Excited to be joining Erika and Andrea today for their Favorite Thing series.

Today it's Fall scarves!! My faves are pretty old but will be in heavy rotation again this season.

The blanket scarf I wore on the blog no less than a million times last fall, I'll be wearing once again.  I just love it.  (Even though my family makes fun of it...calling it the BLARF!!)

Another fall fave is this one...it's just perfect for fall...lightweight for these transition days and great fall colors!  Can wear it now with a tank and later with a sweater!

I feel like the leopard scarf is pretty seasonless, but I pull it out over and over in the Fall.  Everyone needs a leopard scarf...leopard makes everything better!!

So these are my oldies but goodies!  But that's not to say I haven't picked up a set of newbies for Fall 2015.
This one is on it's way home to me, after seeing it online for only 10 bucks!

And I found the all illusive mustard scarf....FINALLY!!!

Andrea featured it a few days ago.  It also introduced me to the really cool online/insta shop Posh My Gosh.  Love it!  I also got a purple one too.  Can't wait for them to arrive!  And I will definitely be buying more from them in the future.

I can't wait to wear these scarves this fall...now if only the weather would start to cooperate.  Mother Nature, bring on the cooler temps!!!!

More looks in these scarves and a few more favorites can be found here!

Style Me Bloggers Secret Santa Reveal!!

This Christmas season I participated in a Secret Santa exchange with some of my favorite people…my fellow bloggers from the Style Me Pretty Challenges!!!  Love that these ladies and I have become such great friends!!  Deena, (our leader and organizer of all things Style Me Bloggers Link-ups…God Bless her!!) of Shoes toShiraz organized the exchange for us using an online system called Elfster.  So cute and super fun!  I signed up for Elfster and was able to get notifications when someone posted in the group!  It also had a cool feature where you could create Wish lists.  I didn’t use this feature this time around though, because our exchange had a stipulation…
We had to get the person we picked a gift specific to our region!  At first I had a tough time with this!  I wanted to send my person wine from the Vineyards out East on Long Island.  Little did I know you can’t ship alcohol (which I for one, think is pretty silly!!! HAHAHA).

As for me, I was so excited to get my gift in the mail!! Lana from Two Teens and their Mama was my Secret Santa. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her blog!  Be sure to check it out!!  Living in Washington State, close to the Seattle area, she sent me some awesome treats!! Should have thought to take pics of the gifts before I opened them...I'll do better next year!!  :)

Starbucks Hot Cocoa because their headquarters is Seattle!

Seattle Chocolates in a gift box shaped like the ferry….which immediately made me think of Grey’s Anatomy and those aerial shots of the ferry McDreamy takes to work!  (I know…I know…I watch too much TV! #solitarylifeprobs

And Sockeye Salmon, specific to the Pacific Northwest, in a beautiful gift box.  Salmon is one of my favorite foods.  I knew I’d save it for a special occasion!  I have decided to serve this as one of the entrees when I have Christmas Eve at my house. I’m excited to tell my family about the Gift Exchange over dinner!!

Chocolate, Starbucks and Salmon...pretty much my favorite things all in one fabulous gift.  THANK YOU SO MUCH LANA!!  Love it all!!

Lana also included a sweet message on a gift tag that now hangs in my tree!!

I had such a fun time participating in the gift exchange.    I was Sarah's secret sender.  Check out what I sent along to her here!  Who knew that 2014 would be the year of the Style Me Challenges, and because of them, I’ve had the opportunity to meet these amazing woman!  It really is all thanks to Alison and her idea to create these challenges!  It is with gratitude and hugs that I say a big thanks!

If you've been following my blog and thinking about joining one too, please read my letter to Alison {here}!  It's been a fabulous, fashionable adventure!

Merry Christmas to you all!!

It's another Style Me Blogger Buddies Link-up!

YAY!!  It's another Style Me Bloggers Link up!  On tap for today is our favorite winter hats...read on for all the fun and a surprise at the end!!!

If there was ever a time to be writing about my favorite winter hat, this is it!!  This week we have hit record breaking lows here where I live and are in a deep FREEZE!!   I just keep thinking that this is way toooooo early for the torture that is winter to begin again!!  I have yet to buy a new winter coat for this year....and I haven't even gotten to wear all the cute vests I bought for the fall!!!  LOL

With that being said, I've been bundling up and sporting my most favorite winter hat all week! This is me when I last wore the hat! In the midddle of APRIL....when we had five inches of snow!!   I don't remember why I took a selfie of myself like this OR why I look so happy here!!

This is me on Tuesday...the first day wearing it!  Notice how excited I am for this weather!  I conciously took this selfie for today's post!  HA!!

The winter season is just too long people!! It used to be that December, January and February were the winter months.  These days winter starts at the beginning of November and ends at the end of April!!!   I really need to move to Mexico wear I can still teach, but be tan, happy, and warm ALL THE TIME.  I hate the winter but will admit to the fact that I do enjoy bundling up in some cold weather accessories!  In fact, I'm surprised I don't have more pics of me in winter hats!!  :)

I have a bunch of cute hats, ones that I only wear with certain coats, as a matter of fact.  But this adidas one is my daily go-to!  This will be my sixth winter with it!  I bought it for myself off amazon.  I think it's considered a newsboy/snowboard hat.  Not once in my life have I ever attempted to snowboard!  Or ski!  If anyone invited me snowboarding or skiing, I'd totally go though!  I'd just be the one inside the lobby by the cozy fire reading a book and sippin' on some hot whiskey!!

Here's a close up of the hat itself.  You can tell it's getting old!
I've worn this hat everyday this week and will continue to wear it until I just can't anymore!!  I love it that much!

GUESS WHAT?!?!
GET EXCITED.....it's GIVEAWAY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Currently carrying....

I thought it be fun to do a little What's in...."my bag" post!  I recently came across Rue La La's Handbag Style Guide online and found it so interesting!  It showed each type of bag we ladies carry these days and even had a timeline of popular bags.  As well as lots of swoon-worthy bags!

I  am not one to spend a crazy amount on my purses, just because I like to switch them up so often.  And the more expensive ones I do have are of the wristlet variety!  I'm really loving my new fall bag I got recently.  This cognac hobo from BP is the perfect carry-all for fall when I'm out an about on the weekends and shopping!

But today, I'm going to focus on my trusty work bag!  Now that I teach Library and Technology, I don't really need a dedicated "work bag" (YAY!)  but I wanted a bag that was big enough to transport any of the things I did bring home at night if need be!  According to Rue La La's Handbag Style Guide, my bag would be considered more of a satchel.  When I bought it, it came with a strap to make it a crossbody bag, but I never use it. When I have it stuffed to the gills, it's way too short to be a crossbody! I am an arm carrier anyway. I also liked this as my daily bag because it zips, which I need for walking to and from work (I live THAT close! HA!)

I get a new bag to use for work every year, but always end up going back to this one.  I bought this about two or three years ago at The Limited, and it's a fave.  I'll have it forever!

Here's a peek in my bag!

Everything is pretty big and easily accessible in the bag.  Sometimes I just throw my keys in and have to dig to the bottom to find them, but there are two side pockets that I usually put them in!

Inside I have my glasses cases, a small makeup case, a small brush, my planner (and yes, that's pretty much a student planner!!) and my old school iPod, iPad, and keys and work ID.

Most mornings before work, I'm also throwing in a water, yogurt, little bags of something for lunch, etc.  Just yesterday, it also housed a bottle of wine, my friend gave me! LOL!!  It all fits great in here! Folders fit snuggly  too!

My wallet is actually a clutch, and I kinda love that I use it as a wallet.  I got it as a gift a few years ago from my mom for my birthday.  I know some people love clutches, but I need something to hold my phone, so using this as a wallet worked best for me.  And if I run into a store for two minutes, I can just bring this and leave the rest!
Sorry I didn't photograph the inside!!

I really liked scoping out Rue La La's Handbag Style Guide , which at the end featured a timeline of purses. It's so funny that these days, woman need the bigger bags because we now carry around lots more "stuff"!!  Which is pretty funny, because you'd think in such "techy" times, we'd have less!  Check it out too...it's an awesome resource!!

What purses and bags to you love??  Share them with me in the comments below!

Have a great day!  Happy Veterans Day to all who have and are currently serving in our military!

Favorite Things Party!!

Linking up once again with Erika and Andrea for their favorite things party!!  Sharing my favorite thing right now under ten bucks. I mentioned this in my five this past Friday, but my love for this stuff runs deep!!  Just like the huge cut I put it on!!  ;)

Now I know it might be a little silly that I am so obsessed with this at the moment, but I'll give you a little background.

Almost two weeks ago now (right after getting THE BOOT off...the very same day actually!...so life was good!  HA), I was cleaning my knives at the kitchen sink. I don't really use the big a$$ knives, but in this instance the two biggest I had were in there and needed cleaning.  What I was trying to get off was not really coming off and I kept thinking to myself that I really should just throw them in the dishwasher! But I know that this ruins good knives, so I didn't.  But when you think it people, ya really should just do it, because not long after that, the knife slipped and I got cut.  I HIT BONE!!  If this had ever happened to anybody before, you know just how quick it is!

At first I was thinking that did not just happen.  Actually, I was not just thinking that, I actually said that out loud.  Living this solitary life I do, I can do that!  I was also laughing so tears wouldn't escape!  I didn't really know what to do so, I switched the water to cold, and ran it under there for a while. Then I wrapped it in a towel, and put pressure on it.

I should add that this was 9:30 at night and I had yet to get in the shower!  (I always shower at night!).  I had a thought of calling my mom and asking her to come wash my hair for me in the sink like she used to do when I was a kid, but then thought the better of this! It was late and she'd would want to take me to the hospital for a stitch or two. (Which my school nurse said I could have used!) Actually... this is my mother I'm talking about, she probably would have come and washed my hair for me, but she would have looked at my sliced finger and said, "it's fine...go to bed!" LOL  When we were little we could never stay home sick.  My mom would always say, "You're fine!  Go to school!"

Showering  and trying to wash my hair was not fun but I got through it ....all the while with a bleeding finger.  I tried to wrap it up for the shower but that was very short-lived!  Finally, I put a few band-aids on it (maybe all the band-aids I had) and went to bed!

At this point I did not have any neosporin yet.  I actually didn't get this miracle of an ointment until Friday!!  My weeks at school are super busy and I had no time during the week to get it!  So I just kept it bandanged tightly so it would stay together. It probably took about a full 24 hours for it to stop bleeding.  Not only did I go through my own band-aids, I pretty much went through my school's band-aids too!  :)

But wouldn't you know it the day I got the Neosporin and put it on, my cut was completely different.  It didn't hurt as much, was super soft and I could actually bend my finger without the fear of it bleeding all over!! It pretty much closed up overnight.  I might be a little crazy putting it on a dozen times a day, but being a teacher I am constantly washing my hands, so this is a factor too.

I'm pretty much healed, but I still have it bandaged and am putting the neosporin on it.  I think it's working so well, that I will have very little scaring.

I know neosporin has been around forever.  I guess I just never used it much!  This is probably the deepest cut I remember having in a long time!  I am sure parents stock up on this stuff for their kids who are costantly runing, jumping and getting scaped knees and such.  Me?!? Not so much!  I clean cuts out with soap and water and have a small bottle of peroxide that I got for a dollar two years ago and still says it will last me another three!  But now I have plenty of Neosporin to last me for maybe FOREVER!!  Typically a tube is around 5 or 6 dollars. but there's coupons and sales, so you might be able to find it cheaper.  I got the original and it's working great!!  I guess when they say, "Every cut, every time" they mean it!

And a big thanks (she types sacastically!) to my co-worker who told me that things happen in threes...my ankle, this cut, what's next ?? So now I'm just waiting on my third thing.  Hopefully it's minor! :)

Have a great week everyone!!

Happy Fall Ya'll

Fall is here!!  Just a few things I'm loving about it this week!!

{ONE} It's FALL PREMIERE WEEK!!!
I look forward to the Fall Premieres probably way more than I should.  I have a few new shows that I am gonna give a try!  And with the return of old faves, it's safe to say my DVR is on overdrive!  Last week I watched the premiere of Red Band Society on Fox!  It was pretty cute...and of  course I've gotta watch How to Get Away with Murder!  What new shows are you looking forward too?
#TGIT

{TWO} Autumn Wreath Yankee Candle
I've already been burning this for the last couple of days and I forgot how much I love the smell!  It's totally Fall-y and fabulous!!  I've had it for the last two falls (love the huge jar candles!) and will soon need another!  Can't wait for my school to have our Yankee Candle sale again!

{THREE} Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli
Living this solitary life, sometimes it's just easy to throw a microwave dinner in!  Say for example, when you get home from work after Meet the Teacher and realize...it's 11:30, I better eat something today!  HA!  This is really, really yummy!  It's part of the new Spa Collection and I picked it up when it was on sale. It's so good, I'll keep getting it!  And butternut squash just screams Fall!!

{FOUR} The Fall Style Me Challenge
On Monday we got a preview of the Fall Style Me  Pretty Challenge from Alison at Get Your Pretty On!  Registration opens TODAY and I'm once again going to participate after kinda slacking in the Summer Challenge and totally skipping the Work Wear Challenge.  I've really missed it and think I can totally rock this one with just the items in my closet.  I've missed the ladies and the FB group most of all! And I'll totally be blogging my looks each week so stay tuned!!

{FIVE} Summer Concerts Recap!
I officially bid summer adieu on Monday with a recap of the Summer Concerts I teased all summer on the blog!  Now I'm really ready for Fall!! Bring on the cooler temps, changing leaves, skinny jeans, and long nights in my blardigan!!  Read Monday's blog {here}!

Have a great weekend!!

An August Favorite Things Party!

Love linking up with Erika and Andrea for their Favorite Things Party each month!  Seeing everybody's steals for $10 dollars is so much fun!  Mine this time around are so random!  Both can be found at the grocery store!  HA!

A little background...
I never go to the grocery store.  The grocery store comes to me.  If you've been following the blog you know, I love me my Peapod! (I've blogged about it here and here) So because of this, I never go and just browse the aisles to see what's out there.  And truth be told, in my Peapod orders, I tend to always get the same things.  I guess I'm just a creature of habit (and really not a fan of change...).  But the other day at my friend's house I discovered I might be missing out!  While I was there I had two of the most yummy things ever!

The first was this....

Now I realize I might be getting on this train a little late.  I had  seen this around here and there but never tried it.  I had the Pomegranate Berry and the grapefruit, both sooooo good!  It's flavored water and ZERO calories.  My friend told me they get the huge packs at Costco, which might be more than $10 but each bottle turns out to be less than $1 so it works!!

Another thing I had for the first time that day was these...
Clearly, I do live under a rock!!!  These were awesome!!!!  I love Ritz!  How did I not know that these existed???  Maybe it's because I have only ever gotten the original (or on occasion, the whole wheat). SO yummy, buttery and vegetable-y.  After these I actually broke out my iPhone and started making my shopping list.  Bad form? Probably!!

My friend kept apologizing that she couldn't offer me more in the way of food and drink that day, but I'd have to say it went well. The only thing that could've made it better was if I brought the big purse with me....that way I could've stashed a sleeve of these ritz and a bottle of sparkling ice in my bag on the way out the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  lololololol....totally kidding!!!!!!

Have a great week everyone!!!

My week was made...

Usually I'm linking up for all the Friday 5 fun! But today I'm just joining Friday Favorites with Erika, Andrea, and Narci.  LOVE THESE LADIES!!  You can share one favorite or 100.  Since I did pretty much NOTHING AT ALL this week except boring house stuff which was no fun, I only have ONE FABULOUS FRIDAY FAVORITE!!!

Let me introduce you to the item that
MADE.
MY.
WEEK.

I finally got a pair of Hunter Wellies!!

YAY!!  I scored them on Super Sale at the Hunter website for less than $100 bucks.  I LOVE THEM and can't wait to style them.  I've already been pinning away.  Speaking of pinning, I didn't exactly do nothing this week.  I linked up for Pinspired!  Check it out here!  (Oh!!  And I also linked up with Andrea this week for What's On...here!)
I might have worn my Wellies around the house all day...just because! And I really hope my neighbors don't mind when they see me spinning around gloriously and splashing in puddles the next time it rains.   I've never looked forward to rain before!!!!!!!!! LOL

Have a great weekend everybody...I'm off to the beach!!!!  I can't wait to see what everyone else has linked up when I get home tonight!!

It's a PARTY!!!

A FAVORITE THINGS PARTY!!!
Linking up with Erika and Andrea to let you know about my favorite thing lately!  Actually, I've been using it for years...

THIS is an absolute staple for me in the summer!!!

I'm a total summer girl, so when I can be I'm out in the sun! With protection of course!  (These days more than ever thanks to the R+F Reverse regimen I just started...SPF 50 for your face!). But it's also important to hydrate after the sun as well.  This lotion smells great and really helps to extend my tan, as it says.  I use almost a bottle or so a week!  (Which I now know sounds a little excessive!)  My bestie looked at me like I had ten heads this weekend when I told her she could keep a bottle of this because I had three others at home!!  I stock up!  And use it all over!!  I love all the Australian Gold products actually!  Just the smell IS summer to me!  I'm pretty sad summer is so close to coming to end...but this helps my tan linger into FALL!!

Can't wait to see what everybody else has linked up!  Have a great day!!

Favorite Things Party!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea for their Favorite Things Party!  I love this link-up because it's where I can share my fave things on the cheap...under $10!

And do I have a favorite thing for you people!!!!!  I just heard about these last week and they were one of my Friday 5's but I just love them so much I thought they needed their own post!!  And I just had to share them with you!!!

I give you...
Have you tried these?!?!

A friend surprised me with these at work last Monday!!  I had NEVER seen them!  But she knew Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my absolute faves, so she bought them!! (She is just the BEST!!)  They were so good!!  And I say were because sadly...they are already gone! THEY WERE THAT GOOD!!

I should be worried about the fact that it's the summer and swimsuit season and I ate a whole package of oreos in the span of three days (give or take the five or 6 I managed to share), but I'm not!!!!!!!!!!!

After I decided to put them on the blog Friday,  wouldn't you know on Saturday afternoon I received this text from my sister:
She's a fellow peanut butter/Reese's fan too and she couldn't resist!

Don't resist!  If you are like my sister and I, and love Peanut Butter, give into the temptation and just go ahead and buy them!!  Because they're only here for a limited time!!  Booooo

I am seriously considering writing to the company and telling them they need to make these a permanent fixture on store shelves!!  LOL

Can't wait to see what everyone else has linked up!  Hope you're all having a great summer!!

Katie

Friday's 5!

Just a few of the things that made this week pretty FABULOUS!!!

ONE
THIS...
 ENOUGH.SAID!!

TWO
My blog hit a milestone on Tuesday...10, 000 views!!  Pretty cool!
I blogged about it {here}

THREE
A Sunday spent in maxis
My sister and I are doing the Summer Style Me Challenge with Alison at Get Your Pretty On.  So on Sunday when I headed over to her pool...we were looking pretty similar!  HA!  See how I've been styling the rest of the outfits during the challenge {here}

FOUR
Have you seen THESE?!?!
They just might be the best things EVER!  These are super hard to find apparently, but my friend Di found them and bought them for me!! She's the BEST!!  She gave them to me on Monday...they might be gone already! :)  Seriously...they are my new favorite thing!  And unfortunately, they're only Limited!!  Booo!!

FIVE
Cousin Time
A little late to the link-ups today because I've had no time to blog!  It's been a fun few days...well hours...with my cousin who came for a super short visit to New York from North Carolina.  She was here to pick up her grandpa so he could travel back with her.  Always lots of fun and laughs when we're together!

Have a great weekend!

It's a Red, White, and Blue Favorite Things Party

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone's enjoying some time with family and friends today...enjoying the beautiful weather.  But please let's take a moment to raise our glasses and remember what this day is REALLY about...those who fought so hard for the freedoms we love so much...and lost their lives in doing so! And may we pray for those who still fight each and every day! THANK YOU!

Linking up with two of my faves today Erika and Andrea for Favorite Things!  Today the Linky party's got a red, white, and blue theme in honor of Memorial Day!

First up, a  recipe for you! MY MOST FAVORITE EVER!!!  We had a BBQ at my sister's house this weekend to kick off summer!  My other sister brought a fruit platter with fruit dip...and just like that my summer had begun!  To make this fruit dip you need two ingredients, both of which together are under $10...Cream Cheese and Marshmallow Fluff! Mix them together and there you have it!  Serve with strawberries, blueberries and other assorted fruits and you're good to go!  There are lots of variations of this one around which I'm sure you've seen, but you really need nothing else!  It may not be the healthiest thing going...but who cares!

I LOVE {these}AE shelf camis.  I seriously wear camis under EVERYTHING!  It might be summer, but I'm still wearing one under my tops and tanks. And sometimes, after having them for so many years and wearing and washing them over and over and over again, the white's not so white anymore and the black's starting to look more like gray!  So when I can find them on sale for $10, I'll scoop some up!  This weekend they're $10 and it's free shipping on everything! (til tonight).  See all $10 deals {here}

And how do you not include the Old Navy Flag tee for $5.00 when talking about red, white, and blue favorite things under $10 dollars! They used to just have them out only for the 4th of July but have bumped it up for Memorial Day! This year the shirt marks the 20th anniversary.  I am not kidding when I tell you my family has probably had these shirts for at least 15 of those years!!  We are those people who get the shirts in every size and take family photos in them!!  (Which I am now wishing I could find and post, but I will spare my family!  HA!) And $5...you can't beat it!  :)

How fun was that?!? Have a great day everyone!!

The Randomness of the Week that Was

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

ONE:
Blackjack
I had so much fun playing blackjack on Saturday at a Casino Night fundraiser!  Read all about it and the great foundation it supported here!

TWO:
Laughing my a$* off!
I did a lot of entertaining this week at my house and had so much fun!  Lots of laughs.  A good laugh makes everything better!  And having something to do every night during the week certainly makes it go faster!

THREE:
The Challenge
I've joined the Spring Style Me Challenge with Alison at Get Your Pretty On.  Read my blog about it here! Even though the challenge hasn't even officially started, it's already been so much fun!  I've "met" a great group of ladies and have gotten lots of fashion inspiration and shopping tips.  Alison has extended the sign up until TODAY, if you wanna get in on the fun!

FOUR:
So this happened this week!  Not really sure how but I'm kinda sad about it!  But I'm still wearing it!!  HA!
What's wrong with this picture??

FIVE:
Scandal
I wasn't planning to include this show this week but I just had to!  It is so CRAZY and just keeps getting better!!  And now I'm sad, because next week is already the season finale!  Definitely put this show on your summer "must watch list". Every week I have to pick my jaw up off the floor!  Any fellow GLADIATORS out there?
SO CRAZY, TWISTY, GOOD!!

Have a great weekend!
