It's been a while...

Where the heck did this weekend go?? Sometimes they are just too fast! It's been so long since I've posted a recap! Thought it might be fun to get back into it...even though I'm a day late!

Friday, I really had no plans at all. I was home and in my sweats by 3:30. But then I got a text from my friend asking if I wanted to go out for drinks. I was cozy, but decided I couldn't pass it up! So I got myself all dressed and ready and headed out the door. It was a really great time. A few glasses of wine, one of my favorite meals and a lot of laughs. So glad I decided to go!

Saturday night into Sunday I was watching my nieces because my sister and brother-in-law had a birthday party to go to at Mohegan Sun. So I headed to their house in the middle of the day. On the way there, I got Starbucks...my first red cup of the season!
Woohoo! Side note: Can you believe all the craziness surrounding the red cup?!?!....crazy-town!!

After getting to my sister's we hung out a bit before my niece needed to get ready for cheer practice. After she left we didn't see her again until 9:30!

Amy and I had a nice dinner with my mom, my sister, Tara, my brother-in-law and three nephews, who had come over to stay with my mom overnight. After that, we did my favorite thing of the night....
I finally got to see this movie!
And I LOVED it!! I pretty much bawled my eyes out!!! It was so cute!!  After the movie, it was bedtime...for the kids and ME!!!

Sunday morning was a little hectic. My niece had competition cheerleading and my nephew had football. I stayed behind with the rest of the kids and we watched The Descendants. It's all the rage apparently. Amy knew every single word! After that, my nephews headed home and Amy, was left with just me for the day! She was not impressed. Ha...
Miss Amy...so fashion-forward!

We had fun though...watched a few episodes of Liv and Maddie (her fave!) and played some rounds of Candy Land. It got super competitive but Amy beat me every time! HA!  I forgot how much I love Candy Land!

By the time I got home, it was almost five I guess. And I unfortunately had to go to a wake! So I got ready for that super quick and was out the door again.

And just like that it was 10p.m. On Sunday. I stayed up a while blogging while I did two loads of laundry and got ready for Monday and the new week. Thank goodness Monday was an easy day! And Wednesday is a day off!

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!!

See you back here tomorrow, for a special What I Wore Wednesday! It's been a while since I posted one of those too!! LOL

Foodie Winos!

This weekend my bestie, Mel  and I went to the 2nd annual Rockville Centre Food and Wine Festival.  It was so much fun!  It was held right out in front of the train station and Cathedral.  So basically just the perfect place!  HA!

I arrived off the train...well me and a hundred other people! And met up with Mel right when it started.  The line to get in was pretty long, but eventually we made it in.  Tents were set up around the perimeter, with food vendors.  Then within that that,  were wine and beer tents.  We got the V.I.P. package so we got 12 drink tickets, and a souvenir glass and a bag of freebies on the way out.

It was food and wine overload.  But everything was sooo good!!  We ate sliders, Mexican, Meatballs!  Mel ate some popcorn, I tried some sushi! We tried a few samples of the beer, than spent the rest of our drink tickets on two  (full) glasses of wine, while we listened to the music.  Sometimes a DJ, sometimes a guy on a guitar...my fave!

The weather was really good for the day...cloudy, not too hot.  And for the most part it stayed dry...until it didn't!!  When it started raining, we went under the V.I. P. tent to stay dry.  #that'showweroll!  We waited out the rain under the tent for a little, enjoying the music, thinking the rain would stop.  When it didn't, we thought, "a little rain never hurt anybody",  So we headed to a bar nearby to get a drink before I headed home.  We were having such a fun time chatting it up with all the other food and winos who were escaping the rain, that I didn't get on my intended train home.

When I finally got on a train, it was late!!  Booo!!  So I ended up missing my connecting train on the other side!  Double boo!  It was raining and I was cold, but I was watching Bloodline on my phone, so it was all good!! Side note: I'm obsessed with Bloodline!  Anyone else??  I already finished the season...it's a must watch!!  Totally CRAY!!

What a great day!  I love that my bestie and I live in such fun towns!  And we do such fun things!!  I can't wait to go back again next year!!

Some pics from the day!!
The cathedral is getting redone on the outside!  I thought this was a really cool pic with the scaffolding and the dark clouds rolling in!  We felt sorry for the people at five o'clock mass who were probably hearing the music and chaos!

Pouring Rain...This guy was really good!!

Mel and her swan cream puff!

Photo booth fun!

Parting gifts!

Happy Tuesday!

Three Day Weekends Make Me Happy!

Now I know I just had the whole summer "off" but now that I am back to work, three day weekends make me so happy.  Even though sometimes I feel like four day weeks take the longest to get through!  After last week, I'm happy to have had the day off.

Friday night I went to happy hour at my friend's house!  We usually reserve the first Friday after the first week for going out after school, but since her husband had a concert to go to, she invited us to her house. It ended up being the best time!  The kids played, we chatted, drank wine, had snacks and chatted some more!

Saturday was a pretty perfect day!!  I had no plans really.  I knew I wanted to go into town but other than that-nothing!  I ran out of fat free half and half for my coffee and wanted to get a coffee at the coffee shop on Main Street.  After I returned my library books, I decided to treat myself to a bagel and a coffee from the bagel store.  I never get bagels!!  I was thinking I would just bring my bagel and coffee home, but ended up eating there. Then I walked in town for a while.  I stopped into a brand new super cute store that just opened Friday.  It's kinda like an Etsy shop right on Main Street!  I'll be going back for sure!

Then I stopped by the cheese shop for my favorite cheese, St. Angel, but they were all out!  I ended up putting my name on the list for them to call me when it comes in because the woman said their last order didn't even last a day!  That's just plain crazy!!  And it's probably crazy, too, that I'm adding my name to lists to be notified about cheese!!  LOL But sometimes a girl's just gotta treat herself!

After that I window-shopped for a bit and headed home.  Before going home I went across to the next section in my complex where they are still building and walked the walking path around.  At the end of the complex, they have three docks spaced out across.  The docks are over a small lake.  The one closest to me definitely had the most sun, so I plopped down for a few minutes. Then I had the idea to go change, grab my beach chair and book and spend some time there.  I could get more hours in the sun sitting there instead of the postage stamp patio, for sure...so that's what I did!!  I ended up being there five hours.  The weather was gorgeous and breezy, so not too hot!!  I sat, read my book a little, and listened to the music of a band playing on the other side of the road.  Ironically they played country.  It was a little muffled but I could make out the songs just fine!  And when they took breaks I google-played it!

I didn't see anyone for quite awhile.  Then my neighbor walked up and scared the bloody crap outta me!  But I would have to say in those 5 hours, about 4 hours and 45 minutes worth, I didn't see another soul!  It was so peaceful.  I wondered why I hadn't been coming here all summer!

A few pics of the dock area!
This gives you an idea of how big (or little!) it is!

Just below it

These two I posted on insta that day!
#katiedaily2015 Day 248

It really was a beautiful day!!  After my day on the dock, I was tired.  So I just spent a quiet Saturday night in watching the Notre Dame game and drinking wine.

Sunday was the last summer BBQ at my sister's house.  And guess what?  There were finally burgers and dogs!!  HA!!  Every BBQ this summer we've had fish and chicken, which are great!  But sometimes you just need a big, yummy, juicy burger!!  And my brother-in-law made them from scratch...So Good!!  It was a beautiful day!  It stinks that now being September we lose the sun earlier!  But I actually spent most of the day under the umbrella to be honest!!
It was a nice casual day to close out the summer.

Monday, being my Sunday, I ended up doing some laundry, did after care work, and lesson plans for the week.  I also laid out for what I think is going to be the last time. #insertsadefacehere  I was able to get about 2 hours in which was good! So long SUMMER!...what a bummer!!!

Last night some of us went to dinner because my Uncle was visiting.  I was glad to see him and happy we went to a restaurant on the water in my town!   I also got the chance to see my mom and dad one last time before they go back down to Florida for a few months!  Dinner was good time.  I got home rather early but ended up going to bed after 12:30...and falling asleep after 1.  What the heck??

Oh I did watch the finale of Bachelor in Paradise though.  Did anyone else?  I am happy Jade and Tanner are engaged, but am still so upset about Carly and Kirk.  I really don't think he wanted to break up with her!  I think he just wanted to slow it down.  But he did that all kinds of wrong.  I don't think she'll have a problem getting a date!  Him on the other hand...

Today it's Tuesday and the first day of After Care, so it's my late day!  Looking forward to my wine and leftover pasta from last night when I get home!!  When you live this Solitary Life, it's  the little things!

And I am so excited for tomorrow!!!  Come on back...

The Blended Blog is OFFICIALLY launching!!

A fun and festive 4th!

It was a celebration of the 4th and a birthday for my family this weekend!!  On Saturday we all gathered at my sister Meghan's house for the holiday and a birthday party for my niece, Amy who will be 6 on Thursday.  It's wasn't the nicest day weather-wise.  It was cloudy in the morning, then poured rain on us for awhile!  But there was a break in the weather around 5 and then it was clear for the rest of the night!  Which was good for the fireworks.    It was a fun day!  Kids don't mind the clouds and rain when there's a pool involved.  Only Aunt Katie minds...hahahaha.  So I went inside and missed the biggest commotion of the day!!  The boys pushed Poppy in the pool.  And his phone was in his pocket!!!  So you can just imagine how that went.  The phone is currently sitting in rice and everyone's fingers are crossed!

It was a day filled with family, fun, yummy food, delicious cake and plenty of drinks to keep the party going all night long!  When the parties are at my sister Meghan's house, they always seem to go the longest!  I ended up staying over and got to get a few hours of sun before heading home. Because, of course, today (Sunday) was beautiful!!

A few pictures of our favorite moments!  Most of these are courtesy of my mom!  She's the resident photographer and always has her pictures emailed within hours of our parties.

Uncle Tony (Amy's Dad) always makes the cake...last year it was a 5, and she requested a 6 again this year.  Billy helped with the M&M's

Pool Fun!

Don't try this at home!!

Don't worry...I didn't wear this headband all day!  Just for fun!!

Only Anthony goes to the Ice Cream Supply Store and stocks up for the summer!!  I had a chipwich-my fave!!

THESE KIDS!

And this last one is just for fun because my mom always does this...she's not at the Macy's Fireworks Spectacular, but she pretends she is by taking pictures of the TV!!!  HAHAHAHAHA

My Aunt, Uncle and cousin actually left the party early to really go watch them live...LUCKY!!

The night always ends with a fire in the fire pit & S'MORES!

All in all a successful Independence Day!  I hope you and yours enjoyed the day as well!!

And what a way to end this 4th of July Weekend!!  Team USA wins the World Cup!!  Woo Hoo!!  Go Girls!!

Have a great week!

Besties on a Beer Run...

School is officially out for summer!  (Even though I'll be going there today!  HA!)  Friday I went to a Teacher's Happy Hour at an outdoor bar in town with some teacher friends.  It was a fun time!  Sippin' summery drinks and talking summer!  We went fairly early, so I was home and made it an early night.  Which is truly, what I like doing better anyway!! #OldLady #TotallyOKwithit!

Saturday I spent the morning catching up on all the blogs I missed during the week with the craziness that is the last couple of days of school.  I LOVED reading all the Style Me Bloggers Summer Reading Recommendations!!  Find them all here!  Then I cleaned up the house up bit because my bestie was coming out to stay for the weekend.  And I'm not gonna lie, when ya live alone, the guest room might get a little bit messy during the week, when you have company you know won't need to go in there.  But anyhoo....

After that, I got ready for the day and headed out to start the weekend of beer with my bestie.  A few months ago I picked up a Living Social certificate for a beer tasting at a local brewery for four people.  We tried to get our other friends to come a few times and it never really worked out with their schedules...and this was the last weekend we could do it, as it was expiring.  But the two of us going actually worked out great because we each went home with a growler and 2 pint glasses....so score!!  :)

The Oyster Bay Brewery is out in Nassau on the North Shore, so I headed in on the train and Mel picked me up and on our way we went!  It was a little bit of a struggle to find, being that it was off the main street and did not have very large signage at all.  But we found it!  (I should have taken a picture of the small ass sign!)

Apparently, this is what you do on a rainy Saturday...go taste some beer!  Because it was pretty crowded.  It was not a big place at all!!!  But there was lots of people there....and lots of people brought their groupons too!  LOL

We squeezed in at the bar and it was explained to us how the tasting worked.  When we were there, they had 5 beers on tap, so we were able to try each.  (Our flight had a 6th but since that keg was kicked, we only had the five.  I really liked how they did it! The flights were in a little box and the numbers underneath, corresponded to each beer on tap.  If I was a better blogger I would have taken a picture of the number board...ooopps!!  But I do remember my faves!  Out of the five I like the Summer Ale, Honey Ale and American Wheat best.  I left with a growler of American Wheat at the end of the night.

Because it was a tasting for four we had the option of getting another set of flights or a pint of our fave, so we did that!

After the brewery we went to dinner at the restaurant within walking distance.  Super yummy food and Oyster Bay on Tap!! Win! Win!

After dinner and a quick trip back to the brewery to get our growlers filled we headed back to my house.

Because Sunday...another Groupon, another brewery!

Actually it's called a brewtique.  It's a beer place that has a ton of craft beers on tap and a store for brewers inside.  It's fun, I've been there a few times but not for a tasting.  We went fairly early....after brunch at our fave....

At Hoptron they had something like 16 different beers from all different brewers on tap.  For the flight we were able to pick four.  So it was kinda tough...if I had all day, I would've gotten another four....and another...because at this one I really only enjoyed 2 that I picked.  But it's so close, I can go whenever and try a few more!  :)

This is really cool!!  All the breweries of the beers they have/had on tap are posted here.

After brunch and beer tasting, we were pretty full...but nothing a little shopping can't cure.  So we headed to Old Navy...Mel had to return something...and there was a big sale!  Oddly enough, I was the only one who left with something!  These pixie pants.  Do I need these pixie pants...probably not (and can I afford these pixie pants at the moment...probably not!)  But I just love pixie pants! These are super cute! And HELLO...it was a SALE!!

These are actually the pixie pants I got...not an hour later I saw them featured on Old Navy's Instagram!!
@oldnavy pants worn by @overmystyledbody

After that, I laid low for the rest of the day!  The sun made a few peeks out from behind the clouds in the late afternoon, so I sat outside and read a little!  Since it's a summer of reruns, I decided to check On Demand for something to watch.  I found the pilot episode of Jane the Virgin on the CW.  I started watching it....super cute and funny! And the star Gina Rodriguez won the Golden Globe for the show.  The first CW show to ever win anything.  Is anyone watching it?  hopefully as the summer goes on the whole first season will come On Demand.

And Monday has rolled around again.  But guess what???  It's summer!!  I don't care!  HA!  I'm walking this morning, headed to school for a bit, then off to catch a few rays!
Hope you all had a great weekend and have a happy Monday!

It's summer so I hope to be blogging lots!  Keep up with me!!

Oh and big news!!!  The Winner of the $200 Gab Brand Gift Card is...

A Super-Sized Weekend

I exhibited such bad blogger behavior last week...not posting at all!! Getting back in the game this week, with lots of great things lined up!!

A Super-sized Weekend Recap!

Starting off my weekend recap a little early, because even though I worked Friday, my weekend really began with Tim McGraw on Thursday night!! HA!!

Thursday after work I headed to the beach to see Tim McGraw. I took the train west and met up with my friend in the RVC. We grabbed sandwiches and bevs and drove the rest of the way to the beach. We actually ended up meeting and tailgating in the parking lot with her dad and brother for a bit, too.

The show started at 7 with a guy name Chase Bryant. We weren't as familiar with his songs. I knew only one! But I have to definitely download a few more. After that Billy Currington came on. We love him!! We've seen him a bunch of times as an opener. It's about time he headlines his own show. We'll be going to that for sure!! “God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy!” No truer words...no truer words!!
Those are also the words on our new Billy Currington t-shirts we purchased...because we need another t-shirt like we need a hole in the head!! But like Mel said...”I don't have a green t-shirt”!! And then I thought...I don't have a t-shirt in this green! I am a little bitter over the fact that we were overcharged $5 for it though!! Too many people, too much pushing, etc...to really look at my receipt before signing, so technically...my fault!

These are not the best pics but...
Billy Currington

Tim McGraw

After the show, rather than rush to catch a super late train home, I stayed over at Mel's and took the train to work the next morning, I was a little late but since I didn't actually have kids until 10, it was ok. And literally, the train station is directly across the street for my school. So I was off the train and in the building in a minute and a half. The train was PACKED with people headed out to Montauk and to the beach for the weekend!!! I'm not gonna lie..I was jealous!! I wish I was going to Montauk for the weekend!! But I digress! Friday was the absolute hottest day yet here. Ick!! It's always the last two weeks of school that end up being the hottest. Thank goodness for AC in my Computer Lab!!

Friday night was the 8th grade graduation ceremony. So after not being home since Thursday at 7 a.m., I ran home, showered and got ready for that. My teacher bestie brought over dinner, we ate quick, got graduation ready and headed back to school! Graduation always turns out to be a beautiful affair (if not a tad bit long!). I love the music and the little touches that make it special and so “our school”! The students that graduated I've had for the last three years in Library and Tech and they were the last 4th grade class I taught. A good number of them also had siblings that I have taught! They are now in high school and some off to college! And way taller than me!!

During the graduation, my stomach stated hurting so, afterwards I headed home for a night of vegging on the couch. I actually caught up on the finale of my new obsession, Married at First Sight, and have to say I am happy with the results. I can't wait to see the reunion show tomorrow!

Saturday was a lazy day!! For some reason, I was up at 6! I really don't get it, I can not for the life of me wake up on weekdays when I actually have get up, but on the weekends, I am wide awake...so annoying!! It was cloudy in the morning, so I caught up on my blog-reading that I hadn't done in over a week, and started a new book! By noon, most of the clouds had burned off so I was able to speed a little time in the sunshine on my postage stamp patio (before it went over the house!). It was not enjoyable!! I was surrounded by bees. BIG ASS BEES!! They were surrounding my little trees in the back! Like a dozen of them. For the most part, they left me alone, flying from one tree to the next! I was stressed though because I am allergic to them!! Nobody believes me when I say this, but I am. When I was little, I got stung by a bunch of bees while walking down my pool deck. I must have hit their nest or something. They surrounded my, got in my bathing suit and everything! I got a number of stings, but way less than the number that surrounded me. Ever since then, when I've been stung, my vision goers blurry for a bit and I throw up. My family says this might just be nervousness and getting all worked up about them but I think that's not normal and I'm allergic!!

But anyway!! Back to the weekend!

I laid out a bit, got some thing's done around the house, then went out to read in the front when the sun hit there. I really had no plans!! Actually, I even posted this to Insta as my daily photo!

But around 6 my friend called and asked me if I wanted to go get dinner somewhere, so I went! It was a really fun time! I had a yummy dinner...open faced lobster ravioli! Sooo good!! Huge chunks of lobster and tons of it, with spinach. And I tried a new, awesome summer beer! Hell or High Watermelon! So yummy, with just a hint of watermelon. Very refreshing. I know that doesn't go with lobster ravioli, but I ordered it before I decided on that! :) Unfortunately, you can't really get it here
for purchase other than at a bar/restaurant. It's the 21st Amendment brewery, out of CA, so I will have to frequent this place a lot this summer!

Sunday was kind of a whirlwind day! I had plans to go to a local vineyard with my family, so my mom and niece came and picked me up in the morning! It took them an hour to get me (usually it only ten minutes away) due to a fatal motorcycle accident. On the way back home, be ended up getting a flat tire! Boooooo....it was a little crazy there for a while, but my brother-in-law came and rescued us... actually, just mom! Lauren and I walked to the Starbucks across the parking lot from where we made it to! Luckily, when it happened, we were getting off the exit and made it to a parking lot, 2 minutes from home! Now I realize, in hindsight, this was probably a bad idea leaving my mom, but I wanted to occupy Lauren...and we got mom her fave drink.  Actually, when we walked away a good samaritan started helping her! So I guess it was a win-win!

We finally made it to the vineyard and it ended up being a nice day! It wasn't too hot, we were shaded by trees and there was a guy there playing acoustic guitar...my fave.
My mom, sisters and I (Just missing Meg!)

A few hours of that on a Sunday, meant me starting my typical Sunday chores later!! But I was wiped so I only did lessons for today and one load of laundry! The rest can wait!

And here it is, Monday again!! Only one more to go!!

I have lots of stuff planned for the blog this week, including two link ups with my blogging buddies and a GIVEAWAY...so come on back!!!

Weekends are just my favorite...

Weekends are my favorite!!  Sunday nights?... not so much!!!  HA!  It's such a shame that the weekends go so fast.

As far as weekends go, I had a pretty good one!!  Friday, I worked late because I had to do After Care.  I usually don't do Fridays because I do it every other day of the week, but the Friday teacher had plans and asked me to cover so I did.  Unfortunately, I got home really late because a child was picked up an hour late.  Boooo...

I was getting nervous though, because I was having my sister, her boyfriend and my bestie over to watch game 7 of the Rangers Playoff game.  I walked in the door at 6:55 and my friend arrived at 7!  Good thing since we've been friends 32 years, she doesn't care if I leave her for a few minutes to go change and freshen up!  My sister and her boyfriend arrived in time for game time!!  We watched the first two periods here, then decided to to head into town to watch the rest at one of the bars.  This probably wasn't the best idea!!  From there the night went downhill.

Tampa Bay scored two goals in the third period, and the Rangers lost the game. #insertsadfacehere

Leaving the bar we had a plant thrown at us. (Like Seriously...Who does that??)  LOL...some stupid drunk idiot was throwing the plant at his girlfriend and it hit us instead. (She should dump him!) I thought there was gonna be a fight right there on the sidewalk but that was avoided!

After that, we headed down to another bar that just opened! It's a Tex Mex place and Tequila Bar. Here, the glass of  tequila slipped off their brand new, shiny, SLANTED bar!!  Crazy!  It really was a comedy of errors!  But we did say that we would go there again!  The food smelled really yummy!! And new places need time to find their footing!

Saturday morning my bestie and I headed to breakfast at another place in town!  It has the reputation for the best breakfast and did not disappoint.  I now wish though that I got something other than chocolate chip pancakes!!  But I'll be frequenting this place a lot this summer!!

After breakfast we actually went to an Open House at a a brand new complex in my town.  It'd be really cool if Mel lived in my town and there because it is so freaking awesome (and I could use her pool and gym...) but it's just too long of a commute to work for her!!

I seem to be talking about my town a lot in this post!  If you missed Friday's post about my neck of the woods, you can find it here!

After that we came back and spent some much needed time in the sun!!  After Mel headed home I stayed out and read until the sun went down.  When she texted me that she got home later on that night, I told her I actually fell asleep for a bit!  I really hope I didn't have my mouth wide open or anything because I was in my rocking chair...IN THE FRONT!! Eeeekkkk  But I did gets lots of color!  So YAY!

Today was not the best day for laying out but there are some peeks of sun, Every time I tried to sit out the sun went behind a huge cloud.  So I just gave up and came in.  It really was a lazy Sunday if there ever was one.  Sundays are my typical lessons and laundry day. I did none of that!!! Instead my ass was on the couch binge watching this....

Kinda cray people!!  But so addicting and really good.  I just couldn't stop watching!!  I'm invested...

So tomorrow I will have to just do my laundry and plan.  The only thing I'm really mad at myself for not doing is After Care admin work, because I know that gonna take a while. UGH!!  Not only am I am After Care teacher for the kids after school, I am also the Administrator of the Program!  LUCKY  ME!  But I don't think the parents will mind waiting a day for the bills!  HA!!

And is it weird that sometimes I feel like Monday is the better day to do things because I am already up, have worked and been motivated?!?  Like,  I think I'll be ok with spending 4 hours on my work tomorrow night because it's just a continuation of the work day!  Maybe I'm just making excuses for myself....

Oh and I may have treated myself to a little something before the Nordstrom Sale ended today!  And with double cash back on ebates!  I got this maxi dress.
I am worried, it's going to be long on me but figured it was worth a shot. Some of the reviewers who are my height said it was long and others said it was ok!  So I guess we'll see!  But the free returns are the beauty of Nordstrom!! I think this color will look great with a tan!!

Now it's already 11 p.m. on Sunday night!!  YUCK!!  I'm off to bed!!  Hope everyone has a fabulous week!!

Memorial Day Weekend

Who doesn't love a three day weekend!!

I kicked mine off with a wedding on Friday night!  A woman I used to work with at my old school's daughter got married.  She and I have kept in touch over the years, since I moved to a new school and she retired.  We always try to get together during each day off and once during vacations for lunch.  Her husband joins us often too! I always have fun chatting and catching up with them.  It was a beautiful wedding.  The peeps at my table ALL left after dinner to get home to their kids, so I was pretty much alone.  I went and got a drink at the bar and ended up watching the end of the Rangers game on the bartender's cell phone! #SolitaryLifeProbs (They won that game, but lost last night!...get it together boys!)

Saturday  didn't really have any plans, so I laid out on the postage stamp patio and then sat out in the front with my book until the sun went down.  Oh and I also spent an hour and a half live chatting with my new boyfriend cable tech guy, when my internet went down!  The horror!  (Which is actually also why I'm posting later today!!).  After such a long chat, I still had to make an appointment to have a guy come out to replace my wireless router!

So with no internet I read a bunch then later on that night decided to order American Sniper On Demand.  I don't know if any of you have seen it, but for me, it was difficult to watch. It shows the difficulty and sacrifice that the toll of war takes on our military servicemen and woman and their families. Bradley Cooper totally embodied the role and did an awesome job.  It was certainly not the Bradley Cooper I know and love!! But it was very well done and I'm glad I finally got the chance to see it.

Sunday my sister had everyone over to her house for a Memorial Day BBQ.  It was a lot of fun.  The weather was NOT that great!  My family likes sun...and although it made a few weak appearances throughout the day, for the most part, it was cloudy, windy and cold. Booooo!!!!  (Get me back to Florida...STAT!)  But the company was great, the food was yummy and the drinks were flowing...so all in all a successful party...even though no one left with a tan!  :)
All the adults (or most anyway!) relaxing by the fire before the chaos that was SMORES began!

Oh and have you tried THIS???
It's so YUM!!  Sam Summer has long been MY BEER during the summers but I think I just might have to switch it up this year!! It's a Limited Edition called Porch Rocker and it's like beer and lemonade!  So refreshing!!  Definitely give it a try this summer!!

After a late night last night, I slept in this morning...til 8:15!  Hahahaha.  Cleaned up the house and waited for the Cable Guy. I was luckily enough to get an appointment for today, even though I felt bad that they worked!!  I originally wanted to get to the Memorial Day Parade on Main Street, but my service call window was in the middle on it.  Which also meant I missed a lot of the good sun today!  And today ended up being the best of all three days this weekend!  But I was able to enjoy some of it.  Then I came in a did my usual Sunday things...laundry and school work.  Ugh....

Oh and with my internet back up and running, I may have indulged in some of the Memorial Day Sales online.  I did really great with my "no shopping" goal in January, February and March...I bought absolutely no clothes then.  But April and the Spring Challenge came along, and the wheels began to fall off my wagon.  It's safe to say that after today, the wheels have completely come off!!  Compared to last year at this time, I'm doing well, but I do wish I had made it a little further in the year before I tanked it!!  But I can still say, I never buy anything unless it's on sale, and this weekend, the sales were just too good to pass up!!

Did you go to any barbeques. parades or shop any sales this weekend?  let me know in the comments below!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Remember and pray today for those who sacrificed so much!

Katie
