Well it's only Tuesday and there's already been so many blog-worthy happenings this week, I just had to share!! After a quiet weekend in my humble abode, things really kicked up a notch on Sunday night when at about 11 p.m. I heard a police helicopter hovering over my apartment with the spotlight shining brightly. Wondered what it was all about but went to sleep anyway!! Found out yesterday, the cops were looking for a suspect in my area!!! GREAT!!! Lol....luckily he was found! (Not in my apartment complex!!!) :)
As if that was not enough excitement for one night, I was awoken at about 3:30 a.m. by the sound of sirens and flashing lights lighting up my bedroom!! Naturally, being half asleep I did nothing for a hot second, just laid frozen! I wasn't sure...maybe I was dreaming!! Then I got my wits about me and sprung into action. I looked out the window and it was a kind of quiet chaos but I still couldn't see anything too clearly with all the flashes...and perhaps my sleepy eyes! Then I heard someone say "over there on the right!!!" I freaked a little because I live over there...on the right!! I jumped out of bed and threw on a pair of pj's fearing that they would come knock on my door and tell me I needed to leave my apartment. (I didn't think it appropriate to answer the door in a tank and boy shorts that said "sure thing" across the ass!!) I sat up for a while and waited...no one came to my door, so clearly, I wasn't in any danger! But I looked out the window again and noticed that every door I was looking at was closed! People were sleeping!! After a while, all the police, ambulance and fire vehicles left! I am thinking that perhaps one of the old folks in the place had an episode and had to go to the hospital but I don't really know at this point...and as I have already established in previous blog posts, I am not too social with the neighbors!! When I do find anything out, I'll be sure to share!!
Now that I think about it, maybe I should reconsider my purchase of a house in this area! Hahaha
So after a not so great sleep, I wake up to, chirp...low battery! Chirp....low battery!! And let me just preface this by saying I have four devices on my ceiling within inches from one another and out of those four I have had to change 3!! On to the carbon monoxide detector. At six in the morning I didn't want to deal with it so, I thought, let me just take the battery out and deal with this later! So I untwist the thing and I see no batteries, only wires!! So I didn't know what to do. All of a sudden the detector started GOING OFF...yelling...Carbon Monoxide warning! Something to that effect! Again I panicked!!! Thinking that the thing was connected to the alarm and the fire department was on the way! After chirping low battery 100 times before I left for work (during which my tourettes was back in full effect...only this time I added YOU after my usual tick word!!! ), I figured it would die totally while I was at work. I believed my thoughts were correct because I hadn't heard it all night. But NO...6 am today...I hear chirp...low battery! FML
What else happened last night...well I got another Peapod order! Note to self...never get a delivery on a Monday Again!! I knew when I ordered for a Monday it would be a problem as I had never had a delivery on this day. I do the texts updates, so I got one saying, "your delivery is next" ...fabulous!! So I get my clicker, coups and tip ready and position myself at the window! Well, I see the truck fly by my gate! I thought, ok...he'll turn around! 15 minutes later...he flies by again! And again! I am not kidding when I say he passed me by 7 times. And stopped only after I ran out flailing my arms. So when he finally arrived, he didn't pull in! He parked his truck in the middle of the road! A MAIN ROAD!!! Then he comes in drops my bags and tells me he has to go get my iced tea mix because it fell out of the bag...like into the main road!!! And he was not friendly!! I am gonna stick with my usual Wednesday/Thursday guy! He's friendly, knows where my apt is and waits around while I cut coupons off the items he just brought me!! :)
To relieve my stress of the day...I sat down watched The Voice and ate Ben & Jerry's FroYo that came in my PeaPod order!! I highly recommend it by the way!!!
It's safe to say this day has been much better!! I'll even go so far as to say one if the best that I've had since moving here! While I was taking out the garbage tonight, a high school boy who lives here, stopped me and asked if I would like him to take my garbage!!!!!! At first I declined, because he had stuff in his hand. But he said it was ok, and that he would totally do it!! If you know me and have read my blog before you know what a big deal this is and how much I hate going to the big, gross, dirty ass dumpster!!!!!!!!!! I resisted the urge to ask him if he'd like to take out my garbage every other day for a small fee! LOL
Thanks again for reading my rants! If your having a week like mine, hopefully this was able to make you laugh a bit! Until next time...

Blogging for Boston
I haven't blogged in quite sometime! I have had a lot going on lately but nothing in my life compares to what has happened in this country this week.
People, the world sucks...it really does!
I am worried. Not for myself, but for my nieces and nephews! They don't know a world other than this one. They only know a world filled with terror, crazies, nut jobs, gun violence, nuclear weapons, etc.
When is it going to END!?!?!?! Ya know when...NEVER!!! Unfortunately this is the new "normal" Forever we will live on edge, as we have been doing Post 9/11! Thank you Brian Williams for that term! (He's my new best friend and the only man I've been with this week!).
I will never understand why these kinds of people do what they do! I chose to focus on the good that was done in the face of such tragedy, remember the police and first responders and most importantly, the innocent victims. I will continue to read every story about the victims and the heroes. Much like I did after 9/11.
When 9/11 happened, I remembered the two weeks prior when I stood atop the World Trade Center for a photo with my sister and the fabulous day we spent in the city, doing touristy things...in a city we had been to a hundred times before! But I was glad I had that memory.
This week I keep thinking about a road trip I took to Boston with my cousin in 2007. I had been there a few times before but I was a young kid and didn't really remember it well. I went again when I was in high school to visit my sister who lived there for a summer, but in all honesty, I think I was there 36 total hours! (If my parents are within driving distance of their home, they don't stay away from home too long!) We did however, have a "star" sighting...when a Patriot sat by us at dinner...lol
During the summer road trip of '07, I was there almost a week. My cousin and I did the touristy things in and around Boston but by day two, I gotta say...we were like locals! Because that is the way the city is...when you're there you feel like one of them!!! Don't get me wrong, New York is a great city and I love it...but it's too big! At least for someone like me!
I have been glued to my TV and Twitter all week for updates. And now as I type this, the nut that did this has been apprehended! There are cheers and tears for the police and first responders! Tonight there is no sports rivalries at play...everyone is a Bostonian!
I've read lots of quotes/tweets of inspiration this week...so I'm going to leave you with one, now that this is all said and done!
Remember the dead and wounded....love on your kids, your families, your friends...and hug a cop. And...best to you and yours, #Boston. --Josh Elliot, ABC News (and one of my three sisters' faves :)
Love you all! Thanks for reading my rants! Until next time...it won't be so long...big things coming up for me that I wanna share!!!

Blizzard blog!!
So after yesterday and all the rain and mix we got, I thought the storm would be a dud!! Little did I know that when I woke up today there would be 30 inches on the ground!!! Um, all I have to say is YAY for living in this apartment! I didn't have to shovel a thing! I did though wanna offer the guys who did a coffee!! But they were too focused on their task and since I was still in my pj's and looking "morning ugly" I didn't !!! Instead I cleared out my DVR and caught up on all my shows, cleaned up a bit, dicked around on my iPad playing games (where I discovered Kerri and I are the only two who still play Song Pop!...c'mon people!!!) and DRUMROLL PLEASE.....I COOKED!!!!!! Which I discovered, I really HATE!! Don't get me wrong, my meal was actually pretty good, and I totally made it up!!! But I really don't like it....touching raw chicken, cutting off all the fat, which I feel leaves me with nothing in the end and the clean up...I hate that most of all!!! But I also feel like after all the prep and cooking, by the time I eat the meal, I'm over it!!! Maybe I'll feel differently tomorrow when I eat my leftovers!!
What I did not do today was laundry. This would have been the perfect day to stay in and do some but I ran out of detergent! I meant to get it during my pre-storm shopping trip, but Iforgot and wasn't home again til after the storm hit, so I never got it. Oh well...thank God for 365 pairs of panties!! I'm all good!!!
Since dinner I've been drinking wine and watching the Hallmark Channel...so needless to say , I am looking fabulous. I am hearing GUS and his lady friend upstairs watching some movie on the octave of 100. I kinda wanna knock on his door and ask them what it is....but since I showered and did not put make-up on (thus still looking "morning ugly") I won't do that!! Instead I think I'll get a movie On Demand! Normally I would feel like a loser being home watching movies and drinking by myself on a Saturday night, but since I got a "red alert" phone call from the town supervisor telling me to stay in and stay off the roads, I'm going to comply!! Lol
Hope everyone made out ok in this!! On a positive note...only 131 days til SUMMER!! Woo Hoo!!!!

It's been awhile!
It's been awhile since I blogged...but it's the winter! I am a hermit in the winter, thus pretty boring with not much to report! I'm a hermit because this weather basically sucks!! I am so not made for the winter! I need sun, sand, and hot temperatures. Not snow, ice, wind, and rain!
Speaking of wind, I know I say this all the time, but today I really did almost get blown over! Like seriously....right into a car...a moving car! Luckily, I live to tell the tale. And that's basically the tale! LOL It was on the way home from my trusty Bravo, which I had not been to in forever (now that I do peapod!...which I also haven't gotten in a month either, but when you have the flu and don't eat anything for 5 days, it kinda saves on the grocery bill!) SO I thought I would make my return to Bravo due to this impending BLIZZARD we are supposedly having. I mean it really is ridiculous!! Their showing all these tracks and models! The American model, the European Model and the RPM model! I mean really...get your shit straight and THEN report the weather!! Because people like me will bug out and worry about what I have to do for the next three days!! Which you're probably thinking is pretty funny funny, since I just mentioned I was a hermit!! But I guess you could say, with the exception of my weekly country concerts, I really don't do much else!! Just sitting here writing about it, is getting me annoyed!! There will be no wearing of the pj's inside out and no wooden spoon going under my pillow!! I really do hope this passes us by.
Is this news to anyone? First thing this morning I got an alert saying Saturday mail is going to stop! Whoopdie ding dong do people!! Who gets mail anymore anyway? In all honesty, going to my mailbox everyday and seeing it empty is such a letdown!! It's like one step away from depression. Seriously, with this weather and my mail situation, I really am heading down that road!! But on the upside, packages will still be delivered on Saturdays, which is all I get! LOL...why shouldn't the mailman have Saturday off??
Well, that's all for now! If I am snowed in this weekend, maybe I'll post!!

Back to blogging in the new year!!
So it's been quite awhile since I've last blogged! The aftermath of Super Storm Sandy came and went and I intended on blogging after my "big" trip to NH, but then as we all know Sandy Hook happened...and I didn't feel like it...I didn't feel like writing, didn't feel like being funny, didn't feel much...after that!! Being a teacher it hit me pretty hard. You can bet I have now scoped out the hiding spots in my library, (there's not really one in my Tech Lab), and contemplated over and over how I would handle such a situation. I, like many others was glued to my T.V. following the tragedy, and then I thought to myself...I can't do it anymore! Time has passed, but I don't believe any of those families will ever move on and I don't think as a nation, we will ever forget! I know I won't! CHANGE HAS TO HAPPEN!!
I am trying to think back to my trip to New Hampshire and it is quite a blur...but I will try to muster up a few tidbits. I will tell ya...it is a hell of a ride to just go over night!!! But it was worth it to see my cousin graduate from the OT Program at UNH.
When I originally planned on going, I thought I would just hop in the car with my aunt, uncle and cousin and head on up for the weekend! Then as time passed, I discovered we were making a stop on the way. We would head into Boston and visit my Aunt Bee* (names have been changed to protect identity)...in a nursing home...that she was just admitted to!! I kinda freaked out but I was a big person about it and said "sure...can't wait!" While in the back of my mind, I'm thinking , "will we have time to shower and change before the graduation because I am certain I was going to smell like nursing home and old folks and I SOOOOOOO do not want that!" (When my grandmother was in a nursing home, I hated going there because if the aroma of old people and pee, so I hardly ever went....then I was there at the end with her, which I am sure was punishment for never visiting....but that is a blog for another day!)
Back to Aunt Bee*... we were to leave for the weekend early Saturday morning. Tuesday night my mom called to inform me that Aunt Bee* had passed away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought she was kidding!!!! Then I thought....NO NURSING HOME?????!!!!! YES!!!! I know you may think me horrible after reading this but Aunt Bee* was 94 and lived one helluva life!! She stayed in her home, continued going up and down the stairs to her bedroom each night and spent her days watching out the window as the buses went by on her street (her favorite thing to do) up until like 10 days before her death! (I think what we should be worrying about here is this country's Nursing Homes!!!) And I know this is awful of me, but when someone older dies, I think, they are better off! She's now in heaven partying with my Nanny, Poppy and the rest of her family...while the rest of us are stuck here...this is surely HELL on earth, people!! And don't get me wrong, I loved Aunt Bee*! My cousin (the graduate) and I spent a week with her in the summer of '07 and it really was the best time!! We toured Boston and her old homesteads around town, from birth to now! And who wouldn't love a woman, who when we arrived, had a 3-course meal ready for us and a case of Sam Summer in the fridge!! GOOD TIMES! GOOD TIMES!!
So the graduation went well and we got up early the next morning to head home! Took the ferry...not a smart idea, as the weather was bad and we all ended up seasick!!! Needless to say, I was useless that Sunday and the day after for that matter!!
The Christmas and New Year holidays seem like such a blur at this point. But it's always a fun time filled with lots of laughs with my family. Living in my apartment now I have my own tree and decorated a bit. It looked good...even if it was only me who saw it most of the time!! LOL
Now it's almost the middle of January...ugh....the winter is so awful...it's so cold (I don't care if it's been mild these last few days, it's still COLD), my skin is dry and my hands are splitting!! I'm tired all the time (thank you dad for telling me to take vitamins, I have been...here's to hoping washing them down with martinis and wine won't deplete their benefits!!!) And I never want to go out and do anything because it's so dark and dreary!! SO basically, I'm a hermit (no one would want see this face anyway...who ever said acne was a teenage thing LIESSSSSS!!) And I talk to no one (hence the blogging...because yes, I have a lot of shit in my head!!)
Well, I think I've rambled enough!! I wish you all a Happy New Year!! Hope 2013 is better than 2012, because it sure was a doozy, huh???
I've resolved to BLOG more!! :) I hope I can keep it!! :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to read!! Until next time...

This may not be the best time to start blogging again....
Now I realize that I am one of the lucky ones! Here I sit in front of my computer in my little apartment that has power and cable and all those good things that millions of people have been living for days without! And will continue to live without for the next few days, given this God awful Nor'Easter that is happening as I type. It is a bit ridiculous what is going on!!
And of course I realize this may not be the best time to start blogging again in light of Sandy and her aftermath but I figured if I can brighten at least one person's day with my silly stories, I'll be happy.
What did we learn today??? Miss Mitchell is NOT a music teacher!!!!!!!!!! But I am a team player, so for one period, I dusted off my singing voice...(that is rarely used, except for the occasional time alone in the shower and in my apartment) and sang! The little kinders first looked at me like I had 8 heads, but then they joined in! And hey, it was a great excuse for Albuquerque Turkey to make a comeback!! :)
I also realized that my lil piece o' shit cell phone can't handle a 4 hour webinar!!! And that I myself could teach the thing!! Just another check in the pro column for the iPhone!! SOON....SOON!!!!!
Given that yesterday was election day, I'll just say that I have never been a political person!! I've had one serious talk about politics in my life and quite frankly it scared me a bit! I also watched those presidential debates and they made me uncomfortable as well, so I choose to avoid politics as a whole. Politics has been all over Facebook, Twitter and the news since forever!! I am here to tell you, that whether you voted Obama or Romney, Red or Blue...whoever got the job is royally screwed anyway!!! This country is in the shitter and needs to turn around fast!! But I am also not gonna be one to yell at my TV every night when I'm watching Nightly News with Brian Williams...so I'll just keep my fingers crossed!! And I should keep in mind what my parents are always telling me...I should just be thankful I have a job (even if it only pays one step above the unemployment wage),I have a roof over my head and clothes on my back and I am healthy!! Because right now even some of the wealthiest in our country don't have that (Thank you, Sandy...you bitch) And on a side note, I think George Clooney should run for president and Ben Affleck, his vice! I would have no problem listening to the two of them speak!! I'd be the first one lining up to be an intern in that White House!! ;)
In closing this little rant, I should say, that I don't care about your religion, your political party, nationality etc....if we can shoot the shit, have a few beers or a couple of cocktails together and laugh our asses off...then we can be friends!! Why not??
Speaking of friends, I just want to make one quick point, related to Facebook, because if you are reading this, then we must be facebook friends! Perhaps you're someone who I've known since second grade when I had pink glasses with smurf decals. Or from high school, where we sat in our lockers down in the basement and did our HW on the Senior stairs. To college, where you know I drank way too much!! And now, so many of you know me in my everyday adult life!! And hell, now that I think about it, some of you knew me when I was still in diapers!!! EEEKKK!!!
But anyway... If you know me, REALLY know me, than you know that half the time I post statuses that are song lyrics and half the time I post just to be FUNNY!!!!!!! I don't ever mean to offend anyone and I don't need to be preached at!! And I do care very much about the victims of Hurricane Sandy!!!! I have been housing one for the last week and a half!!
Thank you very much!!
If I'm someone you asked to be your friend just to "up" your "friend quota"...please delete me!!
I will get off my soapbox now!! And thank you for being a friend!!!
Funny story to end with because it just so perfectly illustrates my solitary life so well!!
Doing laundry the other day, my washer went all "Mr. Mom" on me (You have to remember that movie!!). Banging and shaking and all that! Then I heard a boom and a crash! The laundry detergent bottle fell from the top of the dryer (I have a little double decker type thing) and down onto the floor, with such force that the top popped and cracked into a million little pieces. By the time I got to it, the entire bottle (it was brand new) was soaking into my rug!! Over the last three days I have spent hours trying to clean it up, but am still left with a big blue mess on my carpet! (It couldn't have been the free and clear one!!??!! damnit!!) And it is looking really terrible!! Ever since then I have been finding spots on my walls of detergent spatter and shards of the top of the cap all over the place!! Disaster!! And I am afraid to use too much water on it because I don't want mold and mildew growing under my carpet. Or my sister's steamer because I'm afraid it will ruin the thing! My dad suggested replacing the whole carpet wouldn't be too expensive. At first I thought he was outta his mind, then I thought perhaps that wouldn't be a terrible idea because it is apartment carpeting and it's not at all cooshy underneath!! But for now, I will live with my big blue blob!! And curse at the thing every time I walk by!!
Thanks for reading!! I hope you and your families weathered the storm well and my fingers are crossed for those who have yet to have the power back, that it returns soon! My fingers are also crossed for the rest of us that the damn power stays on....perhaps this wasn't the best year to move into an apartment in my little WALKABLE town....ugh!!
Until next time friends!!

The blog before the storm!!
Batten down the hatches people....SANDY is coming!!! Whatta bitch, huh?
As much as I love the prospect of no school at some point next week I could really do without the thought of being evacuated from the apartment sweet apartment (I do live close to the water now!) and the people out there who are acting like this is the apocalypse!! I mean c'mon!!
When my mother heard I was not really prepared for the storm the way I should be (see this morning's facebook status!) she suggested I go to the store and buy some candles!! Big mistake! Don't get me wrong...there were plenty of candles there. People at this store were only looking for batteries and flashlights...and milk! And I kinda wanted to tell that guy, "Sir, those four gallons of milk you are buying right now are all gonna stink up your fridge when the power goes out!!" but alas I kept my mouth shut. The thing about this store, is that it only has one register (seriously!), so on a day like today, I waited on line awhile. Because some old lady (who cut me by the way!) paid in all singles, then didn't have enough money!! Just my luck!! I did however, chat it up with a nice woman while I waited. We discussed our hatred of Halloween and she said she really hoped we didn't get this storm! Clearly, she has no television at home!! I told her it was coming! She also said I had a beautiful ring and wanted to know if it was my wedding ring. I told her no, but I was available to meet her son, if she had one! HAHAHA...just kidding!! So now I am prepared for the storm with some very large candles and a flashlight! And plenty of alcohol! I figure if the electricity goes out, I can just drink a lot, pass out and sleep...not sit around in the dark all day! And I think Gus has already started boarding up his windows!! I mean, really he can't be serious!! But I keep hearing a drilling sound and he keeps dropping shit!! Construction is not his thing!
As I am writing this, I am eating ice cream. Partly because I feel I have to eat it because if we lose power it will melt and partly because I woke up with a really bad sore throat and I can't really move my neck. I thought the sore throat and the neck pain went hand in hand but now I have a different theory...I'll get back to this in a bit!!
Last night there was activity night for grades Pre-K to 2, so I rushed home and had to change into my costume, that was really not a costume...but more on that in a minute! SO...I wore these new knee high boots to school yesterday, and I go to take them off...I get the left one off just fine but I could not for the life of me get the right one off!! And I am not stupid...I did try to use the "left foot, on the right heel usual maneuver", multiple times and almost broke my toes!! I started to panic and break into a sweat....what was going to do? After about 20 minutes of this, I did the only thing I could think of! I put my left boot back on, then tried the heel thing again...and it worked!! I know as you are reading this I can tell you are thinking this all sounds a bit ridiculous....and I totally agree...but not as ridiculous as what happened later!!
Back to my costume that was not a costume... I was a cowgirl! Dressed in something would typically wear to my country concerts! I wore my cowboy hat, a dress, and my cowboy boots!! Yes...you read right...I said BOOTS!!!! It happened again!!! I could not get my cowboy boots off!!! And this time it was worse!! The using one boot to get off the other did not work this time due to the thin nature of my boots!! I can always get off the left boot because that leg is more flexible! But I can never get the right off!! I shimmied, shaked, banged, etc!! I texted my sister and told her she might honestly have to come here and pull it off of me! Because typically, she would! (Another downside of this solitary life!!) I can still hear her laughing!!
After about an hour of panicking and freaking out, it finally came off!! Then it was a shower, glass of wine, and bed for me!! That was just too stressful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The lesson here is I should never again buy boots that are pull on, no matter how cute!! I need zippers!!!!!
So back to my sore throat and stiff neck...I thought they were related but now I am thinking that I can't move my neck at all because maybe I PULLED SOMETHING in it when I was trying to get my boot off last night !!! I was quite the contortionist!!! ONLY ME PEOPLE!! ONLY ME!!! My mom asked me this morning, why I didn't just go ask a neighbor to pull it off...and she was not kidding!! Could you imagine??? LOL
Damn...I meant to get a heating pad while I was out!!!
Never a dull moment!
Until next time...be safe in Sandy and thanks for reading!!
