What I Wore this October...

Now that it's the end of the month, I can say I officially failed at the Create 28. I have also been a blog fail! I have had issues with my computer and internet...a great source of aggravation. I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 thinking this might help but, of course it has not! I have resorted to writing my posts in Word and copy and pasting them in. Adding pictures when I can, with the super spotty wi-fi! I think it's getting to the point where I need to call someone! I used to be able to post sometimes from school (which I know I shouldn't do), but ever since we upgraded our school's server this summer, everything's is blocked...LOL

But anyway, back to what I've been wearing! I did well following along with the Create 28 Challenge with Carrie, Casey, and Whitney, the first few days, but then my participation fell flat. I mentioned here, that I've been in a Fall Funk lately and this is still in full effect! HA. There were often days I wore the prompts but never took pictures....long cardigan, jewel tones, moto look, patterned bottoms, flares (which I wear every other day!)...again, blogger fail! Other times I did the prompts, just on the days of my choosing. So for the handful of days I participated, here are the looks I came up with!

Starting with a question for you, my readers though!  One day was a look with moccasins. I skipped this day, but ended up finding these in my closet later. Thoughts....do these count as moccasins??

Another day was a blanket scarf look. Since my go-to fall look featured the blanket scarf, I went with a blankety infinity instead. I actually really loved this look. I wore it for my town's Fall Festival a few weekends ago. Day 27 was a vest look!  This was my scarf AND vest look...

And speaking of blanket scarves, I was so excited to find out this week that I WON one from a Giveaway I entered on Facebook sponsored by Screaming Owl!! Woo Hoo...I am so excited to get it in the mail soon!!

You might remember that I declared October my own #shopsmall month. I am doing well with that. I purchased this dress from Posh My Gosh, a shop I found on Instagram and it fit perfectly for the Fall dresses prompt. I LOVE THIS DRESS!! I've worn it with leggings and riding boot and just with OTK boots too!! I am also planning to wear it on Thanksgiving. It's light, easy and nonrestrictive...perfect for turkey day!!!

This past Saturday called for a camo look. I went with my camo jacket. I've been wearing it daily since the weather has been perfect for it!!

Sunday's prompt called for an aztec print look...I went with this sweater I bought a year or so ago at Piper Street.  (They have lots of updated aztec sweaters for this season too!) This outfit was the perfect look for going to pick up my new kitchen table on a rainy Sunday morning!  Haha

Create 28: The last few days!

I feel like the last few days of the Create 28 have been all jumbled together!  But I made it!  I pretty much made it through most of thelooks this month, further than my previous tries, so I think it's a WIN!  And LOVED it!!  It was so fun putting together looks and following along with everyone else's too!

Here are my last few looks to share with you!! These are all not in the correct day order but they were all the last few prompts!

I didn't remix a summer piece, but after seeing Carrie's remix, I have an idea of what to do! I also skipped the Date Night look...for obvious reasons!  The blog ain't called The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life for nothin'...the only date I had Friday night was with my blardigan, wine and book!!!  (Any brothers, cousins, single men out there??  Gimme a call!! LOL...totally kidding!!)  

I did do the summer skirt look with a maxi!  I've been wearing lots of maxi skirts and dresses lately.  Most from last year.  On a side note, I've found that my Instagram feed has been really good for when I need something to wear.  I like going back and looking at my looks and wearing them again. I'm wearing the same outfits I wore last summer...but who cares!!

I wore this out to a GNO with my teacher friends!  Ended up deciding to go with a tank before I walked out the door!

Styling Summer tanks!

These two tanks I got during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are great.  I liked the white one so much, I got the Burgundy color also!  I'm loving that I can wear them now.  The anniversary sale kinda bills itself as being a sale that you can shop Fall items for cheap.  I'll still wear there in the fall too...just with a cardi over them!!  And now that I'm typing this, I'm remembering that summer layers with a sweater was a prompt!!  I know it's summer, but if I'm out, I'll always throw a sweater in my bag!  Either a cardigan, or these days I like the thin, fun sweaters from JCrew factory with fun prints on them. Because you never know what the temperature is going to be like in a restaurant, the movies, the beach when the sun goes down, etc.  I don't have any pictures though!!  Sorry about that!!

A Pin It & Did It Look

This is a look I tried for Pinspired a while back.  But I wore it again this week, as my Pin it and Did it Look!!   More evidence of me recycling last summer's looks!  

The last day was a summer trend.  I thought about it and didn't think I had anything.  But then I remembered....DUHHHH!!!  My beloved denim vest is my summer trend for sure!!  Here are some of my vest looks!  (Most of which, you've probably seen)

It's hard to pick my favorite looks of the 28 days but my readers really loved me in the white-on-white and my Sporty look (above!).

The Create 28 looks I've been sporting....

Today I'm sharing the Create 28 Summer looks I've been wearing!  This past week's prompts were very sporty and casual which I loved.  It was a quiet week for me for the most part so, I was able to partake. Here's what I been sporting!!

A Batter Up Baseball Look

Tried this one with the selfie stick when the light over my closet went out!  It's super bright but I didn't like that you could see it, so I have to perfect my selfie stick skills!!  Even though I am a New Yorker and enjoy watching the NY teams play, the Red Sox are my team.  I just love the city of Boston!!  I had another Sox shirt and I couldn't for the life of me find it!  :(

A Sporty Look

I's sad this is so dark because I really did like this look a lot.  I felt that the striped dress need something, and the denim vest was perfect!  I had never worn my Cons with this dress before, but I kinda love it!  I've been wearing my cons constantly this summer!!  This probably my most fave look of this week....so I'm also calling it my "favorite sneaker look"

A Summer Blues Look

This cobalt blue dress is soooooo old!!  I got it from American Eagle years and years ago but I've kept it because it's a plain, easy dress.  How outta style is it gonna get!?!  I've been throwing it on a lot lately!  It's good for a night out or a day at the pool.  And because it's strapless, I like adding the denim vest to it!

Summer Shoes

Like I mentioned before, I've been wearing my Cons a lot this summer.  When I'm not in sneaks, I'm wearing my Target Sandals.  These are last year's version.

Create 28 Summer Looks: Week 2

This week was a pretty lax week as far as my participation in Create 28.  But since I'm having fun with it and enjoying linking up with Carrie and the girls, I thought I'd share the looks I did manage to put together!  I like recapping the looks as sort of a style diary for myself.  Others choose one look from the  week.  You can really post anyway you like.  Join the fun and link up, too!  I'd love to see it!

Find my first few looks {here}!

I thought Day 6 and Day 7 were kinda similar....a "summer color combos" and "summer brights" look.  So I am thinking I can use this outfit for both!  I actually kept this Stitch Fix top a while back because I knew I could pair it with these shorts. I'm sad the photos a little dark but they're are both pretty bright!!  And these are my favorite JCrew Factory chinos, I talked all about here!

Day 8 was the "all white" look!  

This one I attempted.  I'll be honest, I thought it was a fail and was not 100% on board with it!  But I posted the look on Insta and received such sweet and confidence boosting comments that I may consider wearing this again!!

Day 9 was Polishing my nails, which I didn't do.  My finger nails are unpolished.  My toes are but they just look kind of terrible.  My broken toes are healing but I don't want to go get a pedicure until their 100%.

Friday I headed to the beach so I didn't wear the "summer scarves" look that the day called for.  But I loved scarves and have a few that I could have worn, so I'll definitely wear a scarf one of these days!

Day 11 was a look with a Statement Necklace.  

This is one of my most favorites!  Perfect for summer!

Day 12 was a new hairdo!  As you can probably tell, my hair is almost always up in summer (or it ends up that way!  I always try the top knot, but it never works out!!  So it's the messy updo for the win!!

I am excited because today is a nautical look!  I have lots of nautical to chose from actually, so I'm not sure what I'm wearing yet.  Maybe Wednesday will be my nautical looks!! LOL Who knows!

Create 28 Summer Looks

The Summer Challenge ended yesterday!  And I'll be honest...I wasn't too faithful to the Challenge this go 'round!  I am going to save the looks and wear them throughout the summer.  For now though I'm doing something really fun!  For the month of July, I'm joining in on the Create28 Summer Looks with Carrie from A Lovely Little Wardrobe, Casey at A Little Bit of Cheer and Whitney at Whitney a la Mode.  Read more about Create28 here.

Today is the first link-up!  So I'm sharing my looks from the first few days!!  Each day's look centers around a specific!

Day One was a "Go-To" look.  

If you read the blog on last Wednesday, you see this go-to!  My maxi...with the denim vest of course!!

Day Two was a "Graphic t" look

I just got this shirt at the Billy Currington/Tim McGraw show.  It's a fun summer t!  I posted this pic to insta and meant to take a full selfie but never did!  Oooppps!

Day Three was a "Maxi" Look

I wore this maxi out to lunch with friends on Friday!  It was perfect.  After I ended up spending a little too much time in the sun that morning, I literally threw this on, pulled my hair up, slapped some makeup on my face, and was ready to go in ten minutes!!  I got it from LOFT back in the Spring, for my trip to Florida.  I love that they offer maxis for petite girls.

Day Four was a Patriotic Look

Can I also use this for my day 5...which was a "denim shorts" look??  :)

I spent most of the day in my bathing suit!!  Then showered and spent the rest of the day cozy!
