My Life in Lists

Linking up for another My Life in Lists with Marci and Kelli!

This one I just HAD to do....

List things you should stop spending money on.

HA!  This is pretty easy but hard too, to put down in words!!  Because I feel like me putting out there in the world, I'll really need to go do it!  But here goes nothing!

CLOTHES!!!  This I will admit is my BIGGEST downfall!  There is just too much super cute clothing out there!  I have always said, that I don't just frivolously buy clothes!  If I buy it I know where I'm going to wear it!!  I tried the Spring Style Me Challenge that was centered around 18 key pieces of clothing, so I know you don't need a lot of clothes to be stylish, but clearly I'm not on board with that yet!  LOL.  I mean, I have a lot of closet space in the new place and I still have clothes all over!  YIKES!!  But I should also say that I never buy anything unless it on sale...or just already pretty cheap!  :)

ACCESSORIES!  I've definitely jumped on the accessory bandwagon.  From scarves to statement necklaces, hats to purses, I've bought 'em!  Does a girls need 27 infinity scarves? I know the answer is indeed NO...BUT in all honesty, an accessory CAN TOTAL change an entire outfit!!!

EATING OUT!  Living alone, I eat out a lot.  I love eating out actually, because I HATE cooking but it can get rather pricey.  The only plus to eating out, is the fact that I always have leftovers, so even though I'm spending more that I should, I'm getting 2 meals out of it!

See I'm always looking on he bright side of things!! LOL
What are some things you should stop spending money on? Tell me in the comments below and if you're a blogger, link up {here}.

Have a great Thursday!  Come back tomorrow for a fresh 5 on Friday!!

My Life in Lists...Books! Books! Books!

Last week I had all intentions of linking up for the My Life in Lists Linky Party with Marci and Kelli...but I never got a chance to!  So before this week gets away from me...I am getting my list down!  Because this week, the List is PERFECT for me!!  List books you think your followers definitely should read.
I can totally do that!

If you've been following the blog you know my absolute favorite book is Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  It's considered a kid's book but I think every human being should read it! It is a wonderful book about overcoming challenges and finding yourself.  Read more about my love for the book {here}!

Another book I love, love, love, IS a children's book.  In fifth grade I read the book From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Franweiler by E. L Konigsburg and fell in love with it.  When I graduated college and started building up my classroom library for teaching, I read another book by the same author, The View From Saturday, and I liked this one even better...reading it as an adult!

Any book by Nicholas Sparks is a winner but I love The Notebook!  I will admit I watch all the movies too, but as you know...the books are always better!!

As with Nicholas Sparks, I really also enjoy all of Emily Giffin's novels.  If you haven't read any books of hers yet, start with Something Borrowed.  It's her first.  And as you read her novels you'll find that characters from previous ones pop up in others, so it's good to start from the beginning. (But you definitely don't HAVE to!)

The Pact by Jodi Picoult was a lot to take in...and is one I will never forget. A MUST READ!

Since this blog is called the Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life, I thought I'd also include The Everygirl's Guide to Life by Maria Menounos   I have this book dog-eared  and post-ited up!  Lots of good tips for organizing your home, health and LIFE!  I guess I could also include the books He's Just Not That Into You and How to Date Cute Boys,  too, I suppose but I won't...lol.

The Deep End of the Ocean I loved!  I will fully admit I read it because it was Oprah's first ever Book Club selection, but let me tell you...that lady knew how to pick 'em!  This one I could not put down and it has stayed with me!

Big Russ and Me by Tim Russert was a great book!  I read this following the death of Tim Russert in 2008.  I am not really sure why I was so affected by his death but I absolutely was.  HE WAS Meet the Press...the voice of that show that always came on on Sunday Mornings.  As I read this book I could also hear that voice.  And I really like reading memoirs...I read all of Michael J. Fox, and the hilarious Chelsea Handler books, just to name a few.  All very different obviously, but I enjoyed them just the same!

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern....totally balled!!  If you love a good tear-jerker...

Not being a typical Stephen King reader, I ended up getting the novel 11/22/63 because I really like all things Kennedy (again I'm not really sure why...I guess you can see by this list, I'm very eclectic!  HA!).  This was a long book, but I loved the spin he put on the Kennedy assassination and could not put it down...I probably read all almost 900 pages in 5 days!!  EKKKK...it was just that good!!

Some of My favorite Series are probably yours too...

Harry Potter...I just loved that wizard and getting my book straight from Amazon on the day it came out every year marked "For Muggles Only" was a totally highlight!! HA!
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Series: LOVE!  I loved the girls and saw a little bit of me in each of them!
The Hunger Games Trilogy I love the books AND the movies!!

Clearly I could go on and on with this list! But I won't...It is Cinco de Mayo after all and I've got a date...with Jose (Cuervo that is!!)   But I hope you found something new here that you might wanna try!  All the links above are from Amazon, and I have the physical copies of each myself, but what librarian wouldn't tell you to head to the library to pick one up soon!  :)  And link up your fave reads {here} I can't wait to read a boatload of books this summer...help me add to my list!!

I'll end with a funny...

Happy Summer Reading!!

My Life in Lists

Back again for another My Life in Lists Post, with Marci @ If These Walls Could Speak and Team Gilbert! I love this week's prompt and have totally always thought of this!!

List things you wish you could hire someone to do for you.

{ONE}  Hire a chauffeur to drive me a around!
I know I said this same thing in my previous list, but for serious...I need one!!

{TWO}  My Hair
A hairstylist is another thing I could definitely use.  I feel like when I go get my hair did, it always looks fab, but then I come home and try to replicate the style and it's an epic fail! And if someone did my hair everyday, it would have much more variety!

{THREE}  My Make-up
Who wouldn't want a make-up artist, too?  Another thing that would give my look more variety.  And I could use some lashes, which I could never do on my own!   If I had someone to do my hair and make-up everyday, maybe it would help me get outta bed in the morning!

{FOUR}  Clean My House
I know cleaning people exist, but I obviously do not have them!  This is a small place and not much to clean, but hey if I can have someone do it for me, I would in a heartbeat! Some people love cleaning!  I'm not a fan...I break out in a sweat when I vacuum, I really don't believe that the Swiffer actually cleans anything, and it's inevitable that I bleach SOMETHING when I clean!

{FIVE}  Take Out My Garbage!
This really should be number two!  I hate the garbage.  Living in this condo, it's a community garbage type thing! It smells and is always so full!!  I always wait til the last minute to take out my garbage...less trips!  The garbage in my apartment complex was not great either, but at least that was a  dumpster I could stand 5 feet away from, wind up, and toss in!  If there was someone who'd knock on my door every night to take my garbage, I'd be forever grateful!

{SIX}  Cook My Meals
A chef to cook for me would be just the best.  I would eat! HA!

What would you hire someone to do for you? Tell me about it in the comments and link up your list here!

Have a happy Tuesday!

My Life in Lists

I always love reading the comments other bloggers leave on my page and checking out their blogs.  Marci over at if These Walls Could Speak, visited from the Friday Link-up last week and commented, so I checked out her blog and found out that she just started hosting a Weekly Linky Party with her sister @ Team Gilbert called My Life in Lists.  You guys know me and link-ups!  I've decided to join this week!

5 Things I'd Do with a Million Dollars
What wouldn't I do!?!

1/ TRAVEL!!!  EVERYWHERE!  To places I've never been and places I've been to a thousand times before!
Some of the places I've never been: Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, St. Barth's, Cabo...it was once so close and yet so far away! And so many more...

2/ Redesign my closet!  I'd pay to have my closet customized and reorganized.  Because I always see awesome, huge closets on these home shows and get closet envy!

3/ Hire a chauffeur...for reals!!  A HOTT ONE!

4/ Invest some, donate some, and share some with family! (Should that be 3? HA!)

5/ SHOP!  Of course!  At all my favorite stores...Nordy's Loft, Target, Victoria, Amazon, AE!  And because I'd have the money...Pottery Barn! LOL

What would you do with a million bucks? Let me know in the comments below and  go link up here! New prompts every Monday!

Have a Happy Saturday and a Blessed Easter!
