SIX faves for Saturday!

Happy Saturday!  This morning a Saturday Six is on tap...quite simply because I didn't have my act together yesterday!

My first favorite this week comes care of Erin from Our Little Life!!  She commented that she made the Fall Sangria I posted over at The Blended Blog for a Sunday Football brunch and it was a big hit!!  That just made me so happy this week!!!  YAY!!  Thanks so much Erin.  Do yourself a favor and check out Erin and her sweet family here!

My new sign...Another favorite this week was this!!  

It was hard to fit it in the camera!

Ever since this new shop opened in town in September and I saw this sign there, I've been saying I wanted one.  Well on the day of the Fall Festival, I went in and ordered it!  I am so, so happy with the way it came out!!

My new favorite guy...MY MAILMAN!  It was a huge huge mail week!!  I got lots!!  Like LOTS!  By the third day I, opened the door to him and a stack of boxes and just said "You're gonna hate me!"  He just laughed and said, no way... it was great!  Then said..."I'll see you tomorrow!" HA (I resisted the urge to ask to take his picture for the blog :))

Halloween Detox Group...this week I tried to participate in another challenge group, and failed.  If you follow me on Instagram you may remember that in October I did the 5-day Clean Eating Crockpot Challenge.  This group was along those same lines and another brainchild of Casey at A Little Bit of Cheer.  I wasn't as strict with myself this time around.  I had coffee and wine two days. And I didn't make any of the meals. (the menus were way more food than I consume in a day! HA!) On Halloween, I had made crockpot lasagna, so I had a week of leftovers to eat.  But now that I have the recipes, I can make the meals anytime.  Was hoping to make this coming week my official detox week but it's shaping up not to be!  I did however, drink way more than half my body weight in water everyday (have kept up with that since the last challenge) and got the cardio in!  So even though I failed at this one, it's still a favorite because I like being in the group!  And GO ME!!  I didn't eat one piece of Halloween candy!!
Oh and another favorite came from Casey this week...she declared this dress  her favorite look of the week, at the Lovely Little a la Mode Link up, on Monday!  YAY!!  Thanks so much Casey!!

CMA Awards Girls Night... My mom and two sisters came over for Girls night to watch the CMA's on Wednesday!!  We love our country music!  It was a fun night.  That's also when news of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani broke.  I don't think this will last, but hey.  I am over following celebs ever since my favorite couple, Ben and Jen, divorced.  LOL

Moment of the night at the CMA's.  So happy for Chris Stapleton.  My sister and I saw him, play an acoustic show called Guys with Guitars here in my town 2 years ago!  He is awesome and for the last 17 years been writing for country artists.  So glad he's final getting his due.  He cleaned up at the show!   And this was just incredible!!

Better late than never...

So this here was supposed to be a Friday Five that's now a Saturday Six!  HA!!

But it was pretty easy to add to this!
So let's get right too it!  Here's my 6 for this rainy Saturday...a recap of the week if you will!

{ONE}

Sunday night I stayed up to watch the Lunar Eclipse!  And it really was amazing.  I tried to get pics but I feel like what I was seeing on my camera was not what was happening in the sky, so I gave up!  It was just too good to worry about.  I literally was out there staring up at the sky for 2 and a half hours!!  On the postage stamp patio, in my PJ's, wrapped in my blardigan, drinking wine! ALONE...Solitary Life and all!!  I was however, texting back and forth with friends who were also watching, commenting that we should've made it a party!  Filing that away for 2033!!

{TWO}

Since I watched the Lunar eclipse, I DVR'd Quantico and watched it after school on Monday!  I gotta say, I really enjoyed it.  It's the first new show that I "seasoned pass"ed on the DVR.  Just some crazy stuff going on on it that I look forward to seeing unfold.  I didn't feel that with anything else new I've watched.  Ladies at work today told me to give Code Black a try.  It's on my DVR, I'll watch it this weekend and let you know what I think.

{THREE}

October is Here!!  Yikes!!  Hard to believe, but I'm excited about it.  As soon as the calendar changed, so too, did our temps!  Dropping into the fifties!!  Just crazy!  And this weekend more drenching rain, wind and downright chilly temps are in the forecast. And this isn't even Joaquin yet (but now I don't think he's coming !) I have no plans, except to spend most of the weekend binge watching shows and reading! Fingers crossed we don't lose power!  HA!

I mentioned the other day on Facebook that I was thinking of making October my very own "Shop Small" month.  Lately I've found some really great little shops on Insta that have such cute stuff.  I want to support them.  There are also some great stores on Main Street.  And a brand new one I want to hit up!!

{FIVE}

Last night was Girls Night with my nieces.  I watched them while my sister and brother-in-law went out to dinner for their anniversary.  It's was a cold, dreary night.  Perfect for getting cozy on the couch with dessert and a movie!  Mallowmars  and Bee Movie (which the girls had never seen and I forgot how much a loved!!)  Amy also showed me her workout routine and both girls showed me how to Whip and Nae Nae.  While Aunt Katie's over here listening to country and the music on The Voice, apparently there's a new dance phenomenon happening that I know nothing about!!

{SIX}

And I'll leave you with this....my happy mail of the week.  If there was ever a shirt that belonged with me,  it's this one!!  This is me!  Even though from Monday to Friday of next week, I've committed to eating clean, which means neither of these!! EEEEKKKKK!!!   :( I'll let you know how I make out!!

In honor of pre-season football and the show being at a stadium tonight, I thought I'd leave you with a bonus video.  Boys of Fall is another one of my faves. The video is a little long but it's snippits of a collaboration Kenny did with ESPN back in 2013. Definitely worth the watch.  Makes me wish I lived in a Friday Night Lights town!!

A Saturday Six...or 7!

When I link up with the Style Me Bloggers on Fridays, it gives me an opportunity to put together my own Six on Saturday.  Here's six things from the week.  Not all of them are favorites...a few of them stink a lil bit too!!



Like this.....NOOOOOOOOOO!!!  First Ben and Jen and now this.  I just can't!! I'm no longer rooting for any more celebrity couples!!  I wish this was BS...but it's not!  hahaha

My Roomies!  

My cousin and her husband were here this week and stayed with me.  They came to visit for an unexpected (and sad) reason but I was so happy to see them.  They live in North Carolina so I don't get to see them often at all!! So this visit and the short time I was able to spend with them, was so welcome and a lot of fun!!

Don't Worry, Be Happy

While she was here my cousin brought this article by Pope Francis to my attention. It's his ten tips for living a happy life. It was making it's way around Facebook this week.  When I was looking for the link to post here I found this was actually published a year ago! But I guess any day is a great day to start living a happier.  No matter what your religion, these are pretty great tips!  I've pretty much got the healthy sense of leisure down!!

A Pretty Epic Toast

This video has also been making the rounds this week online too!!  It is pretty dang funny!!  I laughed a lot and thought it was sweet that their sister and brother-in-law had tears of joy and laughter on their faces during it.

Farewell Luke!

I'm really upset about this too!!  Tony Geary is leaving General Hospital.  Monday is his final show.  This week's episodes have been all about him saying goodbye to his family on the show.  I have not been handling it well!  HAHA!  I feel like I've been watching GH my entire life.  And I still DVR it everyday.  This is a huge loss!!  But these farewell scenes are great!  And I've been enjoying the farewell videos online as well!

Once Again...

And since not all of these this week are happy, I thought I'd add this.  Because I can't believe this has happened AGAIN!!!!  The third mass shooting in 6 weeks.  That's just CRAZY!!!  Something needs to be done about this.  It is just so sad!! And I get so mad that nine times out of 10...they kill themselves!!  Just please kill yourself!!  What is the point of killing a bunch of innocents before you kill yourself?  The news is never happy...but I feel like this week has been even riddled with the worse news.  That's why things like viral videos, funny Fallon Clips, and good music make me happy!


That's why, rather than end on the downside, I thought I'd leave you with my favorite new song of the week!  I've been listening to the Google Play Music lately...and am really enjoying it.  I heard a song this week by a guy named Corey Smith that I had never heard before called Feet Wet.  I'm lovin' it.  Great summer song!  Take a listen....it's pretty catchy!!

Six on Saturday...

Yesterday was another fun link-up with the Style Me Bloggers!  But since so many fun things happened and there are so many things I'm loving this week, I thought I'd share a Six on Saturday!! And Yes...I pretty much made that up!  HA!

ONE

57¢ Pancakes at IHOP

On Tuesday Morning, I woke up bright and early to take advantage of the 57¢ deal on the short stack of pancakes at IHOP for their 57th Anniversary.  I went to breakfast with my aunt, uncle, and cousin.  You should know that my aunt loves a bargain....and will do anything for a bargain!  I gotta say they I was sooo glad I woke up early and went.  I hadn't been to an IHOP in like 10 years and the pancakes were soooooooo good!!  Yummy and buttery and fabulous!!

TWO

Bret Michaels

On Tuesday night I went to see Bret Michaels in concert at a local park.  Bret Michaels is not my favorite, but he's my friend's favorite and she knows how much I love concerts!!  And I had gone to see him with her before when he played in my town.  So I went along (again)! And guess what?!?   I had a great time!!!  Who knew I knew so many Bret Michaels songs (apparently I said the same thing last time LOL) I have to download his new album.  Bret's going a little bit country these days!  I can't wait till next year!!  :)  I tried getting some photos but after looking back at them, their all too dark....

Zim Zari

Before the show, we went to dinner at a fun new place!  It was called Zim Zari and was a Mexi-Cali type place.  So, so good!  I had the BLT Ahi Tuna tacos....YUM!!  We also had the Zim Zari Lemonade.  Ridiculously good!! So good...we even went back for another round after the show Apparently I am on a lemonade kick this summer!  I tried  to replicate the drink at home on Wednesday.  It wasn't exactly the same at all, but I made something else really good also!  HA!

FOUR 

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Early Access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started on Thursday for cardholders.  Naturally I took advantage!  I woke up bright and early on Thursday and perused the sale.  (In all honestly, since I was up at midnight on Wednesday, I tried to go on then but the sale didn't go love until 3 a.m. my time).  I put everything that I wanted in my cart....then snapped myself back to reality!!  I really shouldn't be buying anything but it's the biggest sale of the year....so really I'm saving more then I'm spending!!  Putting everything in my cart, I dwindled it down...made a wish list, saved some for later, and deleted some.  I walked away with a bunch of blardigans (for my sisters and I) and a shirt!  So not bad!  But it was only day one!

Tommy Bahama Beach Chair

YAY!!!  I FINALLY got one of these!! After years of seeing everybody with them, I got one of my own this week! I love it.  Specifically for it's backpack feature!  Oh and the cooler on the back, of course!!  I brought it to the beach yesterday!

SIX

Beachin'

Which brings me to my sixth favorite of the week!!  First beach day of the year!  WOO HOO!!   The beach we go to is a ways away so we head out early and stay all day.  When we got there, I was a little nervous because there were big puffy clouds, no sun and it was WINDY!!  Like sandblast windy!  So the first hour I stayed under a blanket! But after a while the clouds floated away and it got BEAUTIFUL.  The best part of the day was probably from 3 o'clock on...not a cloud in the sky!  All the kids played so well ALL DAY and no one really wanted to leave.  My sister kept commenting that she felt we were on vacation in the Outer Banks and wished we only had to go back up to the house to cook dinner.  We left the beach around 7:30 vand drove back to my sister's house for pizza and nightswimming (for the kids!)  It was a fun day!  I got home around 10:30, so it was quite a long day too!!  

Hope you ll had a great week too!!  And have a fun weekend planned!!  It;s supposed to be the nicest weekend of the summer here weather-wise, so I'm going to enjoy it!!
