Currently Reading....

It's Tuesday!!  One more day closer to the weekend!  HA!

I used to be that person who couldn't read more than one book at a time.  This summer, I found out that indeed I can!  I read a lot this summer.  Summer is the only time I can really just read and read and read.  Once back to school hits, I read less. Or so I thought.

Today I'm sharing the books I'm currently reading!  Because there are actually quite a few!!

I said that I don't really read during the school year, but since it just began, I am.  Partly to finish up books I started while I was on vacation and partly because our principal assigned us a book to read!  HA!  And I am reading a book for book club too!  So I guess I'm starting the year off with a bang!





The book that I am reading and will hopefully finish for book club by next week is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.  I never read it in high school (and honestly, I'm a bit shocked it was ever even assigned to anyone is high school!).  I was really excited when I found out this was the September pick because I'm a big fan of the series on Hulu.  If this was not the pick, I'd most likely had taken this month off!  Wish me luck!









A book that my principal gave us as a sort of back to school gift/school book club read is FOCUS by Mike Schmoker. And in all honesty, I'm liking it a lot.  I'm not too, too far into it because I'm not sure what he's going to do with it with us, but it's all about scaling back and actually teaching less things, just "the essentials", with a more positive impact. I'm on board!

I'm getting more and more into the audio books these days as well.  I found myself up in the middle of the night a crazy amount this summer. So while I was awake  I'd listen to audio books.  When I found myself getting sleepy, I'd bookmark that that part of the book and set the sleep timer on my Libby app. Right now I'm listening to the YA novel, The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. I like it a lot.  It's a mystery thriller. I always go into reading YA with the intentions that I can add the book to our school's library.  It's so hard to get the 7th and 8th graders to actually want to take out books.  This is NOT one that I can add, but I'm definitely enjoying it.








And last but not least I'm sharing a new daily devotional. If you've followed the blog for awhile, you may remember that I wrote a post with my best friend, Melanie about the qualities of a best friend after reading Nobody's Cuter than You by Melanie Shankle.  Last week she posted a photo on Instagram of Melanie's new book Everyday Holy and her 100 Day reading challenge. After reading my Mel's thoughts on the book I bought it and was about to catch up this weekend.  It is so good you guys!!  As a religion teacher, there are so many get points and nuggets of wisdom that I can share with my students.  After having to catch up, I'm sad now that I only read one day at a time!

Whew...this seems like  a lot all at once!  But I'm totally doing it!

Happy Friday Ya'll!!  Was this not the longest week known to man or what? What am I going to do next week when it's 5 full days and After Care starts!!?? YIKES!!  So glad to be able to finally say TGIF! A few more Hours to Happy!

On another TBB buddy Alison's reco, I got this book out of the library!  I haven't finished it yet, but am liking it a lot.  Keeping my attention and has me wanting to read more!

Watch: America's Got Talent!
I'll admit...I'm a little ashamed I am spending os much time watching this!  But I am totally loving it.  Love Simon as a new judge and am totally floored by all the magic this season.  And how great is little Grace Vanderwaal??  Next week the season ends with the finals.  Can't wait to see who makes it!!

Listen: Love Triangle
If you've been following my blog for any amount of time, you know I'm a total country girl at heart! My favorite song right now is Love Triangle by RaeLynn.  She was on The Voice awhile back on Team Blake and got a record deal.  Well deserved, but this song of hers is my absolute favorite.  My sister told me about it and it's been on repeat ever since.  It's a sad song but a great song!!

Hello February!

I've linked up with Farley at Oh Boy, It's Farley! for her Currently series back in October and loved it! I thought this was as good a time as any to link up once again and hopefully I can make it more of a habit this year!!

February is one of  my favorite months.  And not because it's my birthday month (very often I could care less about that!)  But because it's an exciting month.  For me, I like that we get a week off!  Woo Hoo!  And as a teacher, it's a great teaching month.  Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Presidents, and Black History, oh my!  I like to that it's month of red, pink, love, and fun! Valentine or not!  HA!!

Here's my CURRENTLY for February!

Listening to: I have no qualms about that fact that I am still rocking out and loving Adele's new album!!

Loving: My new Erin Condren Life Planner!  So glad I decided to finally get one this year!!  It works so well for me with personal,work and blog planning!  And I am having so much fun decorating with fun stickers and things!  Get one for yourself here!

Thinking: Of making this the month of ME!  I'm going to be 36 this month and I have no valentine to speak of, so I was thinking of making this month mine.  I'm not going to worry about who or who's not calling me or texting me or who I haven't seen that I need to make it a point to see.  I did a lot last month.  If I do nothing this month, I'll be ok with it.  I'm going to spend time reading, pampering myself, having dance parties in my living room, indulging a bit, whatev!!  One week this month, I'll be on vacation after all...

Wanting: to get a massage this month.
I've been wanting to get another massage since I got one back on Columbus Day.  And thought that since I haven't been spending money shopping, I'd have the extra I need to treat myself to a massage!

Needing: to get the After Care bills out!  Ugh how is already February?  I feel like I was JUST doing January bills.  As my school's After Care administrator I have to total the monthly hours and payments and bill each family.  This takes me so long!  I don't have any sort of banking/math background, so I am super meticulous and double and triple check everything. And there are so many other things I's rather be doing...like blogging!! :)

*Side note: I have had the book Room on my Kindle since the year it came out and have yet to read it!! I am making it a goal to read it this month!!

Currently...

It's been a while since I blogged!!  Some weeks just get away from me. But I've missed the blog so...

I figured even though it's a Sunday night, I'd blog a bit.  I'm joining the Currently link up at Oh Boy Fourth Grade. I've read so many Currently posts, but haven't joined in.  Today I thought I would! And maybe, just maybe...I finally figured out how to get my answers on the picture prompts HA!  And any day's a good day for a currently!

Listening: To Explosions in the Sky.  We have a new teacher at school who plays music everyday.  One night after school I heard this song playing and asked him what it was.  I told him it sounded like Saturday Night Lights.  He told me the band was Explosions in the Sky and the song was Your Hand in Mine.  So naturally I came and You Tube'd it (YES that's a thing!!) and guess what the band did the entire movie soundtrack to Friday Night Lights and they've also been on the TV show (aka- one of the best TV series EVER!) So needless to say, I've been listening to them nonstop!!

Loving: My New Marc Jacobs Sunglasses.  I treated myself!!  After seeing how awful and scratched all my sunglasses were after summer, I figured I should now get myself a good pair!  I love them so much, I take selfies in them...LOL!

Thinking: SNOW today....for Serious!  There were snow showers this morning!  That's just CRAZYTOWN!!  Totally NOT ready for that!!  

Wanting: to get motivated!  Every weekend I have all intentions of doing work... getting lessons organized, getting blog post ready for the week, etc.  But I just can't get motivated.  I'm loving fall but think I'm in a Fall Funk!!  Hoping I snap out  of it soon!!  And the weekends just go by too fast!!

Needing: to get my first post for The Blended Blog finished!  I'm really excited for my very first post as contributor of The Blended Blog.  I'll be posting Tuesday!  I have been working on it this weekend and need to get it finished!

Boo-tiful: With the exception of today, these Fall days have been awesome!  When I've been able to I've been sitting out in my rocking chair, just enjoying it!  The sun is still warm and the breeze is perfect toward the end of the day!
