So I've updated the blog a bit...

So this being my Christmas vacation and all, I thought since I had the time, I'd update the blog a bit!  Little did I know, doing so would cost me two hours of my life!!  Nothings ever easy.

I tried to spruce things up a bit using snazzy designs like the ones I see on all the blogs I read nowadays.  But copying and pasting and coding and all that tech mumbo jumbo (that I am so well-versed in...or at least I should be!) is a real pain in the ass!  I wanted to make it look pretty and stuff and copy codes, and such! And apparently I did too much, because their was so much on the page, it looked like it had just thrown up!  Then, to my horror, I couldn't delete it!!  I tried removing everything and the throw up page still remained!  Then I deleted the code and the page said to me "Are you sure you want to delete this?" but I deleted it anyway...and so a split second i thought I lost the entire blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But alas, I got it back!  And just decided to use what I had.  Blogger has so many options to choose from. Why was I not just using template, backgrounds and options that were already available to me?  So for the next hour, I played around with that and this is what I came up with!  Hope you like it!

As the New Year approaches, its a time to look back on the year that was.  When I look back on this year, the thing I'll remember most is moving....and what HELL it was!!  LOL!!!  But at least now it's over!

I know I did other things too, but I can't really remember them...which I think is sad!  So I'm taking two ideas from another blog I read and documenting 2014!  I have already started keeping a gratitude journal, in which I'm writing down 5 things each day that I'm thankful for...not the big things...just the simple and silly things!  Like a good cup of coffee, a comment someone said to me that totally made my day or just a rainy day!  (Because on rainy days it's ok if I sit on my ass, wrapped in a blanket and watch movies all day!)  I think it's a good idea and a way to reflect on my day!

Another thing I am gonna do is take a picture everyday!  The Mix and Match Mama did this this passed year and it was really interesting!  I know some days might be hard, because all I do is work, but if I can find one thing in my day worth photographing, I think it'll be awesome way to look back this time next year and see them all!  I'm gonna post the pics to instagram, so if you wanna follow me, please find me at missmitch2.

I spent a lot of the year online, like so many others, but I thought I would share with you all the links to my favorite pages!

Pinterest Told Me To is awesome!  This lady is hilarious!  She puts outfits together that I never thought would go together and she makes it work!   And she always has awesome giveaways!  Fingers Crossed I win this weeks giveaway!!  :)

The Gratitude Journal and Pics I spoke about were ideas I got from Mix and Match Mama.  She has a bunch of blogs...a foodie blog, a family blog and a travel blog!  She also writes for Every Day Cheer, where I saw her Thanksgiving blog and was inspired to start the gratitude journal.  Here's the link to the article: http://everydaycheer.com/?s=gratitude  This site also had a really good cocktail recipe that we tried on Christmas!!
Links to Shay's sites: http://mixandmatchmama.blogspot.com/  the foodie blog
http://www.shullfamily.blogspot.com/ her family blog (PS-her brother is Sean, The Bachelor...which I didn't realize when I started reading her blog and her husband is just plain hot!)

The last blog I have for you to check out is my friend Jamie's!  Where my blog is all "just for fun and laughs", Jamie's will really move you!  It's about her life as a married lady... and she shares her heartfelt family stories! It really is a must read!

Thanks again for reading...I really do appreciate it!  Here's to lots more blogging in 2014!

Happy New Year!!

Christmastime!

I probably should be getting my house ready for my Christmas Eve dinner but instead I have sat down to write this!  Because guess what?? Everything is done!!! If you know me....this will shock you!!! And my mom and sister seem to be doing most of the work, I'm just supplying the venue....and I got a HAM!!!! LOL

I guess I wanted to write today to just reflect on the year. I bought a home, (which really TOOK OVER my year!) traveled a bit, went to numerous concerts, spent countless hours with my family and friends, doing something and nothing all at the same time! And spent way too much time online! I probably spent more time on twitter and blogs than I did on Facebook! But I do love keeping up with people! I love the baby pictures, the wedding photos and check-ins! The pics of your dinner...not so much!! But that's only because, when I see these pics, chances are I've had a bowl of cereal for dinner!!! Hahahahahaha

As the year ends I just wanted I guess to say thanks....to everyone who keeps up with me! Bothers to like, comment or share something I post on Facebook, follow me, retweet or reply to something I've tweeted or took the time to read this silly blog I have!! Even though there are only a handful of people I actually saw this year, please know that the rest of you are thought about often! I wish you a Merry Christmas and nothing but the best in 2014!!

My wish for all of you this Christmas and throughout the coming year...

Wherever you are, I hope that you're laughing

Whoever you're with, I hope that you're having

The time of your life and everything's right
Whatever you wish, I hope that you get it
When love walks in, I hope that you let it
And baby be glad when you look back at me
I'll never be sad as long as you're happy

So I might have gone a little overboard...

Holy Cow...the Christmas Season is here people!!!  How did that happen!?!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  I know I did...but really thanksgiving isn't any different from numerous family dinners throughout the year.  And I guess that is what I am most grateful for....that Thanksgiving isn't the only day of the year that my family sees one another!!  With 18 in my immediate family alone, we see each other plenty, from birthdays...to random happy hours and Sunday football in between! LOL

It's always good to have the time off from work too!  Even though, being a teacher, these next couple of weeks are the toughest...for the kids...and me!  Everyone is most looking forward to our longer vacation coming soon and not really concentrating on work!  Instead it's all Elf on the Shelf and Santa Coming Craziness!!

I certainly, used my few days off wisely!  I SHOPPED!!  WOO to the HOO!!  But I did it the best way!  ONLINE..with coffee in hand (or wine) and clicking the internet for the best sales, with the help of my new best friend in Cyberspace, Pinterest Told Me To.  Seriously, I am addicted, and she did all the legwork and I reaped the rewards!  (Pinterest Told Me To was also the blog that told me to wear leggings to Thanksgiving dinner, which I did...best decision ever!!  If I could live in leggings I would! (Leggings or pj's...it's a toss up!)

But seriously, I shopped a lot....I bought somethings for others and somethings for myself.  I never buy anything that I don't figure out a place for me to wear it first.  For instance, I bought a few things for myself that I can wear to various holiday parties, so if anyone wants to invite me to any...I'll be there, and dressed to the nines!!  :)
I am pretty impressed with myself too that, nearly all my Christmas shopping is done!  GO ME!!

However, I realized I may have gone a bit overboard! When I got home from work today, I had so many packages in front of the door I couldn't get in! Hahaahaahahahahahaha...waaaahhhh!!!  And that was only half of what I've ordered!!  But on the bright side, CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW QUICKLY I GOT EVERYTHING?????

I must go, and sort out my purchases!!  Until next time!

And totally go find Pinterest Told Me To!!  Like, Follow and Share her everywhere!  Right now she's giving away a $500 gift card to Nordstrom...the best store ever!  Check out her blog and all the details here:

Merry Christmas to all!  I hope to write more before the holidays!  Especially now that I'm getting ready for my first Christmas Eve dinner at MY HOUSE!!

Blogging from my new address!

I have to get better about blogging because when so much time passes, I forget what happens!! One thing I haven't forgotten is me FINALLY MOVING!!! WOOHOO!!! Of course it wasn't the most ideal of days to close and move...it being the first day of school and all but hey, like my dad said, "now that I own a home I'll find that everything will happen at the most inconvenient time!" (As you can probably tell, my dad is a glass half empty kinda guy!!! LOL)
Speaking of my dad, he has been a huge help to me these past 2 months as I'm trying to get settled!!  He has done a lot around here, and he let's me know it too...and anyone new who visits! This weekend, when the Johnson's came to see my new place for the first time, he asked my Aunt Linda, (a.k.a. my #1 blog-reader!!!), if she liked the blinds...because he put them up. Then he asked her if she liked the drapes, cause he put them up too! It was also during this time, that he retold the story of telling me to get a boyfriend who could do all this crap for me! (If you follow me on Facebook, you may recall that status!). But I secretly think my dad loves helping me!!!
I'm settled in for the most part. There are still a few things here and there that I want to do and get but I am trying to save up some and know it will all come in good time.
I've met a few of the neighbors in bits and pieces and all seem nice enough.  I feel like I get home too late, I just wanna shut the door behind me and not be social, much to my mother's dismay. Who also told me the other day that she's worried about me...because I'm drinking...and I'm drinking alone! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha....I'm not gonna lie, I might've peed a lil laughing so hard!! Then I hung up with her....and poured myself a glass of wine!!!! ;). But she doesn't have to worry about me tonight, it's so chilly, I'm writing this blog with hot chocolate in my hand!! And I refuse to put on my heat, until absolutely necessary!
Doesn't it stink this cold weather??? On one hand I love it because I love comfy scarves, hats, and boots!! But I don't like the biting cold and constant chill. I'm so mad, too!! I'm missing a box of sweaters!! I think I actually gave some clothes to charity that I didn't mean to when I moved, and I gave a lot away!  I feel like I'm missing some things. Oh well, I guess those less fortunate than myself needed them more!!
It is November after all...I better suck it up and get on board!

Until next time...that I promise will be sooner!! I think what I might have to do, is just blog as things happen, even if it's just a sentence or two, or 200!!!

Thanks for reading!

It's been forever....

It's been forever since I last blogged! We are well into summer and now we're closer to "back-to-school". And unfortunately, due to a very stupid decision I made many months ago, my summer essentially ends Friday!! Booooo!!! The thought of summer ending makes me ill! Where did it go???

My summer has been all things....fun, fabulous, and frustrating! I was away 12 days in North Carolina seeing my little cousin get married and going on the annual family vacation, and this past weekend saw Kenny Chesney...another "annual" outing!  (St. John in 2014 or bust...).  Summer has been filled with little things too! But most of this summer has had me preparing to move!

If things had gone as planned, I would be in my home already, but as is with all things new home, nothing ever goes as planned. So I'm writing this, still in my apartment (very reluctantly), surrounded by boxes that block out the sunlight, sipping on a bottle of Chardonnay (which I don't even really like, but I'm limited in the selection these days kids!!!) and treating myself to a mint chocolate Klondike, watching the CMA Fest and rockin' out like it's 2010 again and I'm there!!! In that 110 degree heat (even when the sun went down!)  and hoping that tomorrow's the day I get my closing date!! I'll be happy, my family will be happy and my besties will be happy! They will no longer have to hear me screaming, cursing, and complaining about what a pain the arse this whole freaking process has been!! I totally and completely understand why people rent their entire lives!!!

Until next time! I'll blog from my new address...the one of a more permanent nature!!!! (And believe me it will be, because I'm never doing this again!!) Hahahahahaha

Never a dull moment....

Well it's only Tuesday and there's already been so many blog-worthy happenings this week, I just had to share!! After a quiet weekend in my humble abode, things really kicked up a notch on Sunday night when at about 11 p.m. I heard a police helicopter hovering over my apartment with the spotlight shining brightly. Wondered what it was all about but went to sleep anyway!! Found out yesterday, the cops were looking for a suspect in my area!!! GREAT!!! Lol....luckily he was found! (Not in my apartment complex!!!) :)

As if that was not enough excitement for one night, I was awoken at about 3:30 a.m. by the sound of sirens and flashing lights lighting up my bedroom!! Naturally, being half asleep I did nothing for a hot second, just laid frozen! I wasn't sure...maybe I was dreaming!! Then I got my wits about me and sprung into action. I looked out the window and it was a kind of quiet chaos but I still couldn't see anything too clearly with all the flashes...and perhaps my sleepy eyes! Then I heard someone say "over there on the right!!!" I freaked a little because I live over there...on the right!! I jumped out of bed and threw on a pair of pj's fearing that they would come knock on my door and tell me I needed to leave my apartment. (I didn't think it appropriate to answer the door in a tank and boy shorts that said "sure thing" across the ass!!) I sat up for a while and waited...no one came to my door, so clearly, I wasn't in any danger! But I looked out the window again and noticed that every door I was looking at was closed! People were sleeping!! After a while, all the police, ambulance and fire vehicles left! I am thinking that perhaps one of the old folks in the place had an episode and had to go to the hospital but I don't really know at this point...and as I have already established in previous blog posts, I am not too social with the neighbors!! When I do find anything out, I'll be sure to share!!
Now that I think about it, maybe I should reconsider my purchase of a house in this area! Hahaha

So after a not so great sleep, I wake up to, chirp...low battery! Chirp....low battery!! And let me just preface this by saying I have four devices on my ceiling within inches from one another and out of those four I have had to change 3!! On to the carbon monoxide detector. At six in the morning I didn't want to deal with it so, I thought, let me just take the battery out and deal with this later! So I untwist the thing and I see no batteries, only wires!! So I didn't know what to do. All of a sudden the detector started GOING OFF...yelling...Carbon Monoxide warning! Something to that effect! Again I panicked!!! Thinking that the thing was connected to the alarm and the fire department was on the way! After chirping low battery 100 times before I left for work (during which my tourettes was back in full effect...only this time I added YOU after my usual tick word!!! ), I figured it would die totally while I was at work. I believed my thoughts were correct because I hadn't heard it all night. But NO...6 am today...I hear chirp...low battery! FML

What else happened last night...well I got another Peapod order! Note to self...never get a delivery on a Monday Again!! I knew when I ordered for a Monday it would be a problem as I had never had a delivery on this day. I do the texts updates, so I got one saying, "your delivery is next" ...fabulous!! So I get my clicker, coups and tip ready and position myself at the window! Well, I see the truck fly by my gate! I thought, ok...he'll turn around! 15 minutes later...he flies by again! And again! I am not kidding when I say he passed me by 7 times. And stopped only after I ran out flailing my arms. So when he finally arrived, he didn't pull in! He parked his truck in the middle of the road! A MAIN ROAD!!! Then he comes in drops my bags and tells me he has to go get my iced tea mix because it fell out of the bag...like into the main road!!! And he was not friendly!! I am gonna stick with my usual Wednesday/Thursday guy! He's friendly, knows where my apt is and waits around while I cut coupons off the items he just brought me!! :)

To relieve my stress of the day...I sat down watched The Voice and ate Ben & Jerry's FroYo that came in my PeaPod order!! I highly recommend it by the way!!!

It's safe to say this day has been much better!! I'll even go so far as to say one if the best that I've had since moving here! While I was taking out the garbage tonight, a high school boy who lives here, stopped me and asked if I would like him to take my garbage!!!!!! At first I declined, because he had stuff in his hand. But he said it was ok, and that he would totally do it!! If you know me and have read my blog before you know what a big deal this is and how much I hate going to the big, gross, dirty ass dumpster!!!!!!!!!! I resisted the urge to ask him if he'd like to take out my garbage every other day for a small fee! LOL

Thanks again for reading my rants! If your having a week like mine, hopefully this was able to make you laugh a bit! Until next time...

Blogging for Boston

I haven't blogged in quite sometime! I have had a lot going on lately but nothing in my life compares to what has happened in this country this week.
People, the world sucks...it really does!
I am worried. Not for myself, but for my nieces and nephews! They don't know a world other than this one. They only know a world filled with terror, crazies, nut jobs, gun violence, nuclear weapons, etc.

When is it going to END!?!?!?! Ya know when...NEVER!!! Unfortunately this is the new "normal" Forever we will live on edge, as we have been doing Post 9/11! Thank you Brian Williams for that term! (He's my new best friend and the only man I've been with this week!).

I will never understand why these kinds of people do what they do! I chose to focus on the good that was done in the face of such tragedy, remember the police and first responders and most importantly, the innocent victims. I will continue to read every story about the victims and the heroes. Much like I did after 9/11.

When 9/11 happened, I remembered the two weeks prior when I stood atop the World Trade Center for a photo with my sister and the fabulous day we spent in the city, doing touristy things...in a city we had been to a hundred times before! But I was glad I had that memory.

This week I keep thinking about a road trip I took to Boston with my cousin in 2007. I had been there a few times before but I was a young kid and didn't really remember it well. I went again when I was in high school to visit my sister who lived there for a summer, but in all honesty, I think I was there 36 total hours! (If my parents are within driving distance of their home, they don't stay away from home too long!) We did however, have a "star" sighting...when a Patriot sat by us at dinner...lol

During the summer road trip of '07, I was there almost a week. My cousin and I did the touristy things in and around Boston but by day two, I gotta say...we were like locals! Because that is the way the city is...when you're there you feel like one of them!!! Don't get me wrong, New York is a great city and I love it...but it's too big! At least for someone like me!

I have been glued to my TV and Twitter all week for updates. And now as I type this, the nut that did this has been apprehended! There are cheers and tears for the police and first responders! Tonight there is no sports rivalries at play...everyone is a Bostonian!

I've read lots of quotes/tweets of inspiration this week...so I'm going to leave you with one, now that this is all said and done!

Remember the dead and wounded....love on your kids, your families, your friends...and hug a cop. And...best to you and yours, #Boston. --Josh Elliot, ABC News (and one of my three sisters' faves :)

Love you all! Thanks for reading my rants! Until next time...it won't be so long...big things coming up for me that I wanna share!!!
