I've been inspired to get Pinspired!!

I'm gonna do something a bit different for my little blog that could! I know in recent posts you've heard me talk about all the blogs I follow!! And today, I'm going to link up with them for a series called "Get Pin-Spired!"  This is by no means a fashion blog but I have been inspired by these ladies to just try it!  Pinterest Told Me To really started out as a blog where she was inspired to try new outfits she had pinned with things in her own closet!  Which is basically what pinspired is!  I thought I would try it myself for this month and see what I could find!

You must check out Sheaffer'sShay's and Mel's blogs!

I have been thinking about linking up for awhile now so I created a Pinspired board on Pinterst.  I went through it today and picked out this to try.

I picked just the sweater because sadly, I don't have a full length mirror! (One's now on its way to me!) And living the solitary life I do, there's no one here to take my pics for me!  HA! Shout out to Tara for being my photographer for all the PTMT contests I've entered in the past!!

I really like the green/navy combo!  This is my take on it:
Clearly I need to work on my selfies....and get an iPhone!!

Close up of the necklace I put with it!  Wasn't sure if this is too much but for my first time, I guess it wasn't too bad!
Green Sweater from JCrew Factory
Navy and white striped shirt from Old Navy- very old!
Necklace from Loft...about 4 years old! Other LOFT Jewelery options here

Throwing this in too because I love my new leopard infinity scarf!  Thanks Shay!  And let's face it...life's just better in an infinity scarf!

Leopard scarf here
Thanks for indulging me!  This was fun!  Let me know what you think!!

Until next time! Have a great weekend...I for one will really just be enjoying the commercials on Sunday!  Hope your team wins!!

I am so not a commuter...

Tomorrow's February already!?! What the what?!?!! I guess the only good thing to come out of this past month flying by is that we are that much closer to SPRING!!! Because, let's get real people...this winter has been for the birds!!! Oh, wait...they flew south...even they know this is no place to be!! To sum up this month in a word...SNOW!!! And I am so over it!! I am only really happy when it's sunny and 75! (Thank you Joe Nichols for that little ditty!) There wasn't much to blog about this month anyway, I suppose!! When it's negative whatever out, I myself go the way of the bears and hibernate!!! And even when I did venture out this month, to somewhere beyond the two mile radius of my town, it was kind of a disaster! And this is so why this blog is called The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life!!!

Wednesday, January 29, I had an adventure! I went to see Keith Urban at the Garden! And going on the railroad is such the adventure all the time anyway, but this day is was especially fun! (She says in her sarcastic tone!) My bestie and fellow country concert partner-in-crime texted me at about 2 to let me know that I might be delayed a bit due to a fire in the tunnel between Jamaica and Penn. I was optimistic though, because I wasn't leaving for another hour and a half and by the time I got even close to there, it'd be even longer...how could they not have it cleared by then? It was going to be rush hour in the biggest city in the world and the million Long Islanders who commute everyday need to get home!
Then she texted my again...at 3:25! I was on the train with 2 minutes to spare until it pulled away! Trains were cancelled and delayed and the rush hour commute was sure to be chaos...I panicked! What do I do!?!? Do I go in? Do I give her my ticketmaster password to print out two tickets for her and a friend from work!?! After her reassuring me that she didn't think I would be too late, I told her I would go and text her when I got to the next station. Mine is such that I always have to transfer anyway, so I just thought I would figure it out there, and if I had to come back home, I'd come back home!
When I got to the next station my train was already there, so I thought all was good! I hopped on and grabbed a seat. The doors shut and off we went!!!! It was only then that they made a special announcement that my train would "MOST LIKELY" TERMINATE at Jamaica, but as we got closer they would advise! I was still ok with this because I knew there was a subway I could take if I needed to (but didn't really want to do that!) But of course it did, and I had to take the subway....with the other three thousand people going my way!! So that was a little bit of crazy! But I made it down to the subway and hopped on the train which said "Express to Manhattan". I thought fabulous!! An express! I won't be too delayed after all!!! WELL...EXPRESS MY ASS!!!! An HOUR later I made it to Penn!! After 1000 commuters on top of me (about half of which smelled by the way, and who have absolutely no qualms about standing on top of you!) An hour is no express people! Oh and did I mention that I stood the whole time because...I THOUGHT IT WAS THE EXPRESS!! I feel bad for people who have to take the local!! What did we learn from this?!?! I could never be a commuter!!! God bless Mel and Sean who do it every single day!!!

And it really didn't help that it was the Keith concert, the Rangers/Islanders game at Yankee Stadium and the first night of the Super Bowl Boulevard, all at the same time!!! You'd think I was in the greatest city in the world or something!

But alas, I made it!! It's might have taken me three hours, but I made it!!  And the first thing I did when I got there was have a drink!!

I just love Keith! And by the time I sat in my seat I kinda forgot that whole mess happened!! This was our third time seeing him at the Garden (5th time overall, I think!) He's a chill guy...just came out on the stage and started playing!! No pyrotechnics, no fanfare...just a hot little Aussie and his guitar!! And it was an awesome show!! Even if I wasn't the girl who was pulled on stage, plopped down in a recliner and sang to!! I'm still in "Keith Mode", listening to him as I type this!

Can't wait till next time!!!

The train ride home was a bit of an adventure too, but I am just to tired to even think about it!

Thanks for reading and laughing with me!

So I've updated the blog a bit...

So this being my Christmas vacation and all, I thought since I had the time, I'd update the blog a bit!  Little did I know, doing so would cost me two hours of my life!!  Nothings ever easy.

I tried to spruce things up a bit using snazzy designs like the ones I see on all the blogs I read nowadays.  But copying and pasting and coding and all that tech mumbo jumbo (that I am so well-versed in...or at least I should be!) is a real pain in the ass!  I wanted to make it look pretty and stuff and copy codes, and such! And apparently I did too much, because their was so much on the page, it looked like it had just thrown up!  Then, to my horror, I couldn't delete it!!  I tried removing everything and the throw up page still remained!  Then I deleted the code and the page said to me "Are you sure you want to delete this?" but I deleted it anyway...and so a split second i thought I lost the entire blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But alas, I got it back!  And just decided to use what I had.  Blogger has so many options to choose from. Why was I not just using template, backgrounds and options that were already available to me?  So for the next hour, I played around with that and this is what I came up with!  Hope you like it!

As the New Year approaches, its a time to look back on the year that was.  When I look back on this year, the thing I'll remember most is moving....and what HELL it was!!  LOL!!!  But at least now it's over!

I know I did other things too, but I can't really remember them...which I think is sad!  So I'm taking two ideas from another blog I read and documenting 2014!  I have already started keeping a gratitude journal, in which I'm writing down 5 things each day that I'm thankful for...not the big things...just the simple and silly things!  Like a good cup of coffee, a comment someone said to me that totally made my day or just a rainy day!  (Because on rainy days it's ok if I sit on my ass, wrapped in a blanket and watch movies all day!)  I think it's a good idea and a way to reflect on my day!

Another thing I am gonna do is take a picture everyday!  The Mix and Match Mama did this this passed year and it was really interesting!  I know some days might be hard, because all I do is work, but if I can find one thing in my day worth photographing, I think it'll be awesome way to look back this time next year and see them all!  I'm gonna post the pics to instagram, so if you wanna follow me, please find me at missmitch2.

I spent a lot of the year online, like so many others, but I thought I would share with you all the links to my favorite pages!

Pinterest Told Me To is awesome!  This lady is hilarious!  She puts outfits together that I never thought would go together and she makes it work!   And she always has awesome giveaways!  Fingers Crossed I win this weeks giveaway!!  :)

The Gratitude Journal and Pics I spoke about were ideas I got from Mix and Match Mama.  She has a bunch of blogs...a foodie blog, a family blog and a travel blog!  She also writes for Every Day Cheer, where I saw her Thanksgiving blog and was inspired to start the gratitude journal.  Here's the link to the article: http://everydaycheer.com/?s=gratitude  This site also had a really good cocktail recipe that we tried on Christmas!!
Links to Shay's sites: http://mixandmatchmama.blogspot.com/  the foodie blog
http://www.shullfamily.blogspot.com/ her family blog (PS-her brother is Sean, The Bachelor...which I didn't realize when I started reading her blog and her husband is just plain hot!)

The last blog I have for you to check out is my friend Jamie's!  Where my blog is all "just for fun and laughs", Jamie's will really move you!  It's about her life as a married lady... and she shares her heartfelt family stories! It really is a must read!

Thanks again for reading...I really do appreciate it!  Here's to lots more blogging in 2014!

Happy New Year!!

Christmastime!

I probably should be getting my house ready for my Christmas Eve dinner but instead I have sat down to write this!  Because guess what?? Everything is done!!! If you know me....this will shock you!!! And my mom and sister seem to be doing most of the work, I'm just supplying the venue....and I got a HAM!!!! LOL

I guess I wanted to write today to just reflect on the year. I bought a home, (which really TOOK OVER my year!) traveled a bit, went to numerous concerts, spent countless hours with my family and friends, doing something and nothing all at the same time! And spent way too much time online! I probably spent more time on twitter and blogs than I did on Facebook! But I do love keeping up with people! I love the baby pictures, the wedding photos and check-ins! The pics of your dinner...not so much!! But that's only because, when I see these pics, chances are I've had a bowl of cereal for dinner!!! Hahahahahaha

As the year ends I just wanted I guess to say thanks....to everyone who keeps up with me! Bothers to like, comment or share something I post on Facebook, follow me, retweet or reply to something I've tweeted or took the time to read this silly blog I have!! Even though there are only a handful of people I actually saw this year, please know that the rest of you are thought about often! I wish you a Merry Christmas and nothing but the best in 2014!!

My wish for all of you this Christmas and throughout the coming year...

Wherever you are, I hope that you're laughing

Whoever you're with, I hope that you're having

The time of your life and everything's right
Whatever you wish, I hope that you get it
When love walks in, I hope that you let it
And baby be glad when you look back at me
I'll never be sad as long as you're happy

(Lyrics from Uncle Kracker's Happy)

So I might have gone a little overboard...

Holy Cow...the Christmas Season is here people!!!  How did that happen!?!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  I know I did...but really thanksgiving isn't any different from numerous family dinners throughout the year.  And I guess that is what I am most grateful for....that Thanksgiving isn't the only day of the year that my family sees one another!!  With 18 in my immediate family alone, we see each other plenty, from birthdays...to random happy hours and Sunday football in between! LOL

It's always good to have the time off from work too!  Even though, being a teacher, these next couple of weeks are the toughest...for the kids...and me!  Everyone is most looking forward to our longer vacation coming soon and not really concentrating on work!  Instead it's all Elf on the Shelf and Santa Coming Craziness!!

I certainly, used my few days off wisely!  I SHOPPED!!  WOO to the HOO!!  But I did it the best way!  ONLINE..with coffee in hand (or wine) and clicking the internet for the best sales, with the help of my new best friend in Cyberspace, Pinterest Told Me To.  Seriously, I am addicted, and she did all the legwork and I reaped the rewards!  (Pinterest Told Me To was also the blog that told me to wear leggings to Thanksgiving dinner, which I did...best decision ever!!  If I could live in leggings I would! (Leggings or pj's...it's a toss up!)

But seriously, I shopped a lot....I bought somethings for others and somethings for myself.  I never buy anything that I don't figure out a place for me to wear it first.  For instance, I bought a few things for myself that I can wear to various holiday parties, so if anyone wants to invite me to any...I'll be there, and dressed to the nines!!  :)
I am pretty impressed with myself too that, nearly all my Christmas shopping is done!  GO ME!!

However, I realized I may have gone a bit overboard! When I got home from work today, I had so many packages in front of the door I couldn't get in! Hahaahaahahahahahaha...waaaahhhh!!!  And that was only half of what I've ordered!!  But on the bright side, CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW QUICKLY I GOT EVERYTHING?????

I must go, and sort out my purchases!!  Until next time!

And totally go find Pinterest Told Me To!!  Like, Follow and Share her everywhere!  Right now she's giving away a $500 gift card to Nordstrom...the best store ever!  Check out her blog and all the details here:

Merry Christmas to all!  I hope to write more before the holidays!  Especially now that I'm getting ready for my first Christmas Eve dinner at MY HOUSE!!

Blogging from my new address!

I have to get better about blogging because when so much time passes, I forget what happens!! One thing I haven't forgotten is me FINALLY MOVING!!! WOOHOO!!! Of course it wasn't the most ideal of days to close and move...it being the first day of school and all but hey, like my dad said, "now that I own a home I'll find that everything will happen at the most inconvenient time!" (As you can probably tell, my dad is a glass half empty kinda guy!!! LOL)
Speaking of my dad, he has been a huge help to me these past 2 months as I'm trying to get settled!!  He has done a lot around here, and he let's me know it too...and anyone new who visits! This weekend, when the Johnson's came to see my new place for the first time, he asked my Aunt Linda, (a.k.a. my #1 blog-reader!!!), if she liked the blinds...because he put them up. Then he asked her if she liked the drapes, cause he put them up too! It was also during this time, that he retold the story of telling me to get a boyfriend who could do all this crap for me! (If you follow me on Facebook, you may recall that status!). But I secretly think my dad loves helping me!!!
I'm settled in for the most part. There are still a few things here and there that I want to do and get but I am trying to save up some and know it will all come in good time.
I've met a few of the neighbors in bits and pieces and all seem nice enough.  I feel like I get home too late, I just wanna shut the door behind me and not be social, much to my mother's dismay. Who also told me the other day that she's worried about me...because I'm drinking...and I'm drinking alone! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha....I'm not gonna lie, I might've peed a lil laughing so hard!! Then I hung up with her....and poured myself a glass of wine!!!! ;). But she doesn't have to worry about me tonight, it's so chilly, I'm writing this blog with hot chocolate in my hand!! And I refuse to put on my heat, until absolutely necessary!
Doesn't it stink this cold weather??? On one hand I love it because I love comfy scarves, hats, and boots!! But I don't like the biting cold and constant chill. I'm so mad, too!! I'm missing a box of sweaters!! I think I actually gave some clothes to charity that I didn't mean to when I moved, and I gave a lot away!  I feel like I'm missing some things. Oh well, I guess those less fortunate than myself needed them more!!
It is November after all...I better suck it up and get on board!

Until next time...that I promise will be sooner!! I think what I might have to do, is just blog as things happen, even if it's just a sentence or two, or 200!!!

Thanks for reading!

It's been forever....

It's been forever since I last blogged! We are well into summer and now we're closer to "back-to-school". And unfortunately, due to a very stupid decision I made many months ago, my summer essentially ends Friday!! Booooo!!! The thought of summer ending makes me ill! Where did it go???

My summer has been all things....fun, fabulous, and frustrating! I was away 12 days in North Carolina seeing my little cousin get married and going on the annual family vacation, and this past weekend saw Kenny Chesney...another "annual" outing!  (St. John in 2014 or bust...).  Summer has been filled with little things too! But most of this summer has had me preparing to move!

If things had gone as planned, I would be in my home already, but as is with all things new home, nothing ever goes as planned. So I'm writing this, still in my apartment (very reluctantly), surrounded by boxes that block out the sunlight, sipping on a bottle of Chardonnay (which I don't even really like, but I'm limited in the selection these days kids!!!) and treating myself to a mint chocolate Klondike, watching the CMA Fest and rockin' out like it's 2010 again and I'm there!!! In that 110 degree heat (even when the sun went down!)  and hoping that tomorrow's the day I get my closing date!! I'll be happy, my family will be happy and my besties will be happy! They will no longer have to hear me screaming, cursing, and complaining about what a pain the arse this whole freaking process has been!! I totally and completely understand why people rent their entire lives!!!

Until next time! I'll blog from my new address...the one of a more permanent nature!!!! (And believe me it will be, because I'm never doing this again!!) Hahahahahaha
