BREAKING UP WITH BRAVO!!!!
Really Bravo, really??? NONE of your Fat Free Half and Half's had a date stamp???? I was not going to get it then- how was I supposed to know when it expired?....I instead had to go with the FULL FAT version, which yes, totally tastes different!!
And why, oh, why Bravo do you advertise things in your circular that you DO NOT HAVE???? I was so looking forward to getting Smart Ones at 50% off this week!!!
And who knew the patrons of the Bravo loved Blue Point Pumpkin Ale so much?? So much so that three out of the six pack were stolen!! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!! I couldn't get it anyway...my bag was too heavy already. And I know my bag is heavy BEFORE I check out because I carry my Market Bag with me to shop!! And I will have you know, I am the ONLY soul in the Bravo who cares about the environment!! But I may go back tomorrow...Loving my Pumpkin Ale already!!
Bravo was not all bad today however...I did get Mott's juice boxes 2 packs for 5!! And yes, you read that right....I said Mott's Juice boxes!!! I need those for my lunch. I am so over soda...and I refuse to pay $5 for a 12 pack when it used to be three 12 packs for like $6!!!
I do realize that Bravo is not a legit supermarket, but it is just so convenient for me and had served me well thus far...oh well!!
Nothing else to really report this week in my solitary life of Mayhem and Mishaps....oh except if you count my Brita pitcher full of water spilling all over my kitchen counter and down to the floor!! Causing me to be late for work (which my crossing guard noticed!!!) Actually I was late to work 3 days last week, all of which my crossing guard friend recognized and commented on!!! I ignored her...she doesn't know I'm a bitch 'til about 10, when I fully wake for the day!!
I also had an incident with my sugar bowl as well. Instead of fulling my empty sugar bowl with the sugar, I started pouring the five pound bag of sugar into my coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I didn't notice what I was doing until I had poured about a pound in already!! What a waste!!!
But I am not going to let any of these mishaps bother me!! It's the most wonderful time of the year: PREMIERE WEEK!!! Woo Hoo!! So tonight, I'm gonna sit my ass on the couch and watch my shows, with a big bowl of ice cream drenched in peanut butter...(not my usual spoonful that I treat myself to)...and enjoy!!!
ttfn!!

Locked in the Library
Back by popular demand!! A new blog post...
This past week was the first full week back to school and my first week with the kids. I must admit that not having a homeroom is taking a little bit of getting used to, but I do like the fact that I see and teach every kid in the school!!
My year was already made....on Monday I had my second graders from last year. Before I invited the kids into the library, I lined them up in the hall, but one child peeked in and announced, quite enthusiastically I might add, "MISS MITCHELL, I LOVE WHAT YA DONE WITH THE PLACE!! I just had to laugh...and was very touched!!
The library has it advantages! I can modify the same lesson to fit students in grades Pre-K to 4th...reading them all the same book but mixing and matching different activities. Pre-K was a challenge though! It was hard for me to explain to them that the Library is a QUIET place, when 2 or 3 of them are screaming their bloody heads off that they miss mommy and daddy!! But school is new to them, and I know they'll come around! Plus, I got high marks from the aide, so I guess I wasn't too tough on them!! I am used to disciplining the bigger kids and there's a reason I was once known as Aunt Beastie!!
I am finding Tech to be bit more daunting (which I'm a little surprised about)!! But I'll get there!!
The biggest disadvantage is that I miss my friends...lol...I am not where the action is!!
This week back was busy...I was late every night and got no sleep, which meant this weekend I was back to my old lady ways of falling asleep early on Fridays. This week was also the Meet the Teacher night! Easy for me, because really no one wanted to come visit me! LOL
Funny story...for the past two years our principal has given us roses (think Bachelor-style...and every time I wanna yell...I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS ROSE!!) This year though, I took mine home and was shocked to remember that I actually had a vase here to put it in. My delight quickly faded, when I realized the vase was for a DOZEN roses, not one singular, sad rose! So I put it in the vase and fluffed it up with all it's greenery!! It looks nice...but if anyone wants to send me 11 roses, I sure as hell won't refuse them!! :)
An update on my walks to school...
Monday, a friend of mine saw me walking to work, so she swung around and picked me up at the stop light, wondering what the heck I was doing and how on earth my dad (aka: my chauffeur/ chariot of fire) could leave me on the side of the road!...I reminded her I moved...but also found out a student lives in here! (FAB!! eeeekkkk!!)
The next day, a woman walking told me she loved my shirt! Then the crossing guard told me had been looking for me and thanking God I didn't come sooner! She didn't want me to get soaked by the sprinklers!! People around here are so nice...even the immigrants I see loading up in trucks every morning to go find work!
Oh and I also met some neighbors. They moved in right before me. The woman told me, she had just finished unpacking and that she hates moving!! But she also said she was gonna invite everyone in our section over for a wine and cheese open house/housewarming type thing. I told her I would be there! I love WINE! But then I thought....IS THIS WHAT THEY DO HERE? SHOULD I HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS? THANKS LADY FOR MAKING ME LOOK LIKE THE ANTI-SOCIAL SCHMUCK OF THIS BLOCK!!! But then I got over it. Today I met her boyfriend. He asked me if I liked pork because they were trying the crock pot here for the first time and would have lots left over. I thanked him kindly...but then I worry, how do I know it's safe?? It could be laced with meth!! (AND this is probably the reason I am so not a people person!!) Luckily though, it's 7 and a crock pot full of pork has yet to arrive at my door!!
So here it is again the dreaded Sunday night. It's great having all the kids in the school but having to look at 150 technology surveys from the big kids and create 150 "Taking Care of Books" books for the little ones is NOT FUN!!! Lots of work ahead of me! I must go...and turn on my oven fan!! I thought oven mits were supposed to prevent burns, not go on fire!! Opppsss!! The house smells as fabulous as you can imagine!!
Thanks so much for reading and all the positive feedback!! I do this for shits and giggles, and I'm glad I can give you a chuckle!!

I was kidding...
SO when I originally posted that I was going to start a blog on Facebook, I was KIDDING!! But the more I thought about it, the more silly things were happening to me. Half of which I shake my head and laugh at...some of which I'll admit...I've cried about! (Don't worry Ma...the laughs far out way the tears!!)
Living on my own at 32 should not be new. I should have taken this step a long, long, long, long time ago!! But I am catholic school teacher, who doesn't drive and makes way less money then anyone might think! So my parents, and then my sister, so graciously took me back following college. And while my wanting to buy a place has been in the works for quite sometime, I thought "Ya know what?!? I have enough saved for a house...for now let me just keep that in savings and use this year's salary to rent." It was quick, after that...maybe too quick! LOL
It's been about a month here. A few things I discovered thus far....
I need a bug catcher!!
There are a lot of bugs here. I don't think this is a buggy place, I just think that with it being summer and all and my apartment being surrounded by trees and shrubs, I'm gonna have bugs! I've seen spiders and ants and I'm pretty certain I sleep with mosquitos at night. (No Jean...apparently this is not a one night stand!) I am sure my bug situation has nothing to do with the fact that my front door doesn't close all the way because of my fabulous new mat (Thanks Lauren and Amy!) and by the time I realize it, close to ten minutes have gone by! Oooppppssss!!
Bug catching made me late for work the other day too! Not late, late but late on my terms. If there was ever a day I could be late though, it was last week. This year, I am teaching library and tech so I didn't have kids last week and now don't have to be there so, so early! BUT...maybe I do!!! Walking to work at 10 to 8 (Yes...I live that close...), I heard a bunch of footsteps coming up behind me, then rush passed me!! It was middle school kids who go to the school across from mine!!!
When we reached the corner, THE CROSSING GUARD, let us all go. Since I had to cross over again...she stopped traffic and let me go AGAIN! I was a little embarrassed but thought it was funny too. After this, I decided I would leave much earlier, so as not to meet the middle schoolers or the crossing guard again!!!
The next day....no middle schoolers...but I crossed the street safely with the help of the crossing guard lady! Or as I now like to refer to her... my new best friend! LOL
Note to self...never buy a top that has a tie in the back or buttons up the back!! BECAUSE THERE'S NO ONE HERE TO TIE IT OR BUTTON IT FOR YOU!!!!! Because of my new solitary life, I need to remember this. I took these things for granted when I lived with others. Someone was always there to button me, zipper me or tie me up in the back! I contemplated not wearing that shirt, that day but since I had picked it out the night before (due to my lateness previously) and had no time to think of anything else. So I did what I could to tie it, went to work disheveled, and asked a friend to tie me in the back!
Me and my Bravo!
I am a big fan of the Bravo supermarket. Because it's close to me obviously!!! And they honestly have really good deals. Like today for example. I bought all these cans of food for buy one, get one free, 5 for $5 and so on. I got home with all my groceries and while putting them away realized something: I DON'T HAVE A CAN OPENER TO OPEN ANY OF THESE! After about a second of laughing at my stupidity, I had nothing to worry about!!! Out the door I went. To Family Dollar down the road!!! And got myself the DELUXE can opener...for $2!! LOL
SO now it's back to being that dreaded 5'oclock on Sunday! I've planned for tomorrow when I meet my students in Library and Technology, I've watched some football, eating snacks and drinking beer.
My beer is another story!! My last Shock Top in the fridge I was saving for the JETS game. I thought about getting more when I was at the Bravo (no Shock Top there, but beer in general) but decided I should go with the canned goods instead! This would have been fine, IF I didn't spill the beer on the carpet!! Damn it!!!
Reading this, it might seem that I am not liking living on my own!! I absolutely am!! I can take longer showers, I don't need to put on a bra to come out of my room in the morning, and can have dance parties in my living room!! I've also noticed though that I talk to myself a lot, don't really like the quiet, and I LOVE visitors!!
I don't know who'll read this, but if you do I hope you get a lil' kick out of it! My policy has always been to laugh at myself...so laugh along with me!!
Until next time...if there is a next time,
Katie
